Whoremongers?

So a character who values sex and thinks it is a vital part of a healthy relationship, is totally the same as someone who frequents prostitutes? Okay then....

srsly. **** anti-sex condemnation. people who are into abstaining destroy their own argument with that nonsense.

And this is why romances in rpgs don't get taken seriously...

I beg to differ, I think too many on BSN take the romance content entirely too serious.

Some characters are going to expect that in a romantic entanglement, sex is going to be on the table at some point.

It'd be more comfortable in bed.

(sorry)

You do realize you're chiming in on a joking conversation, right? Funny how I never personally use name calling toward you and you use a bunch of name calling. Who is the actual rude one here?

he's right, I don't think he's rude at all. I like this guy

Sure.  And being told after saying you'd prefer to have romance content without nudity is akin to playing a "monk simulator" is a prime example.

What's wrong with sex?! I don't see what the big deal is. We see violence and gore in video games, but TnA and sex scenes is a no-no? *sighs*

More depth is always good.

But I think it can be achieved without sex.

well i think depth comes fron reflecting the stage the relationship is at. That should include mentioning the sexual. Running away from the issue via optionality isn't good imo.

She's probably rutting with a guy at work, and he is nobbing the pastor's wife.

That's usually the case with things like this.

Honestly this is why I am in favor of a harem solution, love for everybody.

Why not just establishing the option to skip sexual content in the menu. In some games you can turn off extreme gore effects. So why not doing this, the scene skips but still happens and everyone is happy? If some player doesn't want to see it, it's ok, but doing a romance without sex like in DAI leaves more players unsatisfied than actual pleases them. Like I said before, do a non sexual romance only with a good reason behind it (like alien race that can't have sex with humans ect) and don't disguise it as some normal romance arc. That just makes players angry because it belongs to a romance for most of us. :/

It's simple. Doing most important think for every living think is not ok. Doing most horrible think possible, killing people, giving more options to kill people, discussing who you want to kill most, perfectly fine and fun.

Spoiler

I don't think that's what is being argued.  The discussion is on whether having sex should be required to continue the relationship or conversely if refusal for sex should be grounds for terminating it.  Many relationships take such things slow while others just jump in headfirst.  Not sure it would be too terribly difficult to add an extra line of dialogue and a couple brief cutscenes.  It's not like anyone's suggesting a toggle like one certain obnoxious poster keeps arguing for.  It shouldn't be an option for every romancable character though.

What we need is the option to say yes to sex and no to relationships. A proper renegade bad girl just wants to enjoy a no strings attached game of musical penis after after some killing, is that too much to ask for?

With the break up option that could be done, while it shouldn't be final. Renegades should be able to come back for the D lol

As long as sex remains optional - cannot recall ever being forced into such an action - then I am OK with the current Romances.

What bothers me a bit more is the older games experiences with accidental Romance arcs, though this seems to be fine in more current games.

Sure, why not? Some romances are better with it, others are better when taken slow.

Depends on the character I guess.

I think the main problem is that there isn't even an option for the protagonist to say they don't want to have sex. You're only options are to just have sex, or end the relationship yourself. That doesn't work for everyone. Sure, a character shouldn't have to continue the relationship with the protagonist if that protagonist won't have sex with them. But the protagonist should still have the option to actually say 'I want to continue the relationship, but no, I'd rather not have sex'.

o.o

I do watch a lot of it, I admit...

But...

You see Haman Karn and then Loni Garvey and THEN Sophie Fran and see if you can pick between them.

o.o It doesn't help that one is a pedophilic yandere, one is a death seeking revenge obsessed tragic figure and then the other is a child raised in the aftermath of a war that saw everyone she cared about killed and she was forced into the life of a soldier to avenge them.

1. Haman Karn

2. Loni Garvey

loni2_mxa2.jpg

3.Sophie Fran

Sophiefran.jpg

...Just ignore the fact that all three of these women follow the same faction and or its successor movements.

o.o But yeah, choosing between them is impossible therefore romancing all three is the only option.

Also ignore that all three are likely dead (two are confirmed KIA but the third is unknown)

But maybe you could say that I like these types of women, these types of romance, each and everyone of them on their own merit would provide a well rounded romance arc, but since choosing between them is impossible, there is only one solution. o.o

Course you could argue that the solution here is not to make all three prospective romances intriguing like Bioware does (I mean seriously DAI is case and point: Only Cassandra caught my attention) but all that results in is limited choice rather then broaching the option of actually expanding a romance to fit another person into it.

  Seriously though anime has the best girls, at least one franchise does anyway.

Bioware could do worse, a hell of a lot worse...and have.
