For multiplayer purposes mainly, but possibly squad voice commands on the single player. This way teamwork can be more organic in the multiplayer.
Everyone in the multiplayer needs a mic so we don't confuse who they really are.

I remember the last time I played online multiplayer.  I wished so badly that I could mute the other players.

Including a headset would only reinforce the belief that voice communication was valuable.

I find that telepathic communication is far more efficient.

A game won't come with a headset. You have to buy that yourself.

What? No. Buy a damn headset yourself if you want one.

If this winds up happening, the included earbud is going to be so horrible that nobody will want to hear anything you have to say (just look at the one that came with the PS4 - it's junk, and that's coming with a full console purchase), and it's going to drive up the price of the game.

Chill. I'm pretty sure it's a troll thread.

Yeah because if it comes with a normal headset the next thing will be people asking it to come with the pc to play it on.

Well I mean some games do already come with a console to play them on...course you'll have to pay a large sum of money for the console.

Given the rate at which I break headsets I'll probably need a new one for Andromeda, so sure.

Uh... No.   Won't be buying any game that requires me to talk to it.   Mass Effect or not!

The game should come with an Alienware so we could play the game.

An item best purchased separately.  People have rather varied tastes when it comes to headsets (size of the earpiece, wired/wireless, materials, mic quality, weight)  so it would be better for Bioware to just license a Headset manufacturer to brand a few of there headsets with Mass Effect decals and sell them separately.

Sometimes it is. More often than not, it's horrible.

Some players have no clue. They turn on their cheap omni-directional mic and you hear the background TV, kids crying and/or the MP audio feedback from his/her comp. One loves the game but babbles enthusiastically throughout the mission.  Another is a kid that incessantly plays as a lone wolf, dies often and each time cries for someone to help him.

A mike is a two edge sword. Muting the player is a good idea.

How would they even do that? Give us 3D printer plans when we DL the game?

Edit: oh, wait.... people still buy games in boxes?

Seems like an unnecessary expense considering both Xbox One and PS4 come with headsets.

And not everyone NEEDS a mic.  I don't need to hear loud music, loud breathing, incessant profanity, or someone who thinks their General Patton in my ear.

They won't even include a proper PDF manual.

Well, to be honest in my 1000+ hrs of ME3MP I never heard more than heavy breathing. Not sure if that would change so much.

No kidding. Then every MPer was wondering why I don't like MP.

Besides most decent headsets on either console or PC aren't that expensive.
