We know (or at least have hints) that our Inquisitor might still have plans ahead, whenever he/she disbanded or kept the Inquistion.
However, I'm curious from fans that love deeply the story of their Inquisitor or are into roleplaying. What's your story for your Inquisitior after the events of Exalted Council? Where do they go? Do they find a simple job if they disbanded? Or do they keep travelling with his/her lover? ( if possible *ahem* )
Do you try to keep your head canon lorewise or not really?
I love to imagine my head canon - Trevelyan married Cullen and since Varric made her comtesse, she moved in Kirkwall. Trying to put the Inquistion life behind. For now. Cullen might be working for the City Guards for Kirkwall or something (with his Mabari - of course) and my Kathanna Trevelyan (now Rutherford - she took Cullen's surname) continued to paint and became an artist, since she enjoyed to do that in her spare time even as the Inquisitor. However - that was only for a while, soon afterwards she and Cullen gathered her agents and are getting prepared to hunt down Solas.
My Lavellan kept the Inquistion since in that playthough Cassandra was the Divine and his lover, so he tried to be with her as close as possible, however he deeply misses his clan - and decided to travel and look for them with Cassandra at his side.

Mine said she was going north to Tevinter to save Solas' ass, so I imagine that's what she was doing.
Also avoiding her clan, so she doesn't have to answer any awkward questions about her missing Valaslin and the bit where she seduced the devil... Who she now has to save... Even though he is literally trying to wipe out her entire race and destroy the world... "No, you don't understand, he's actually a really great guy, he's just misunderstood! I can save him!

Given the fact that the Inquisitor's story doesn't seem to be entirely over, and how people's headcanons from previous games have been shattered by DAI, I think it's safest to say that my canon Inquisitor is looking for a way to stop Solas without killing him. She's left Vivienne to her own devices as Divine, and has her wife Sera and trusted advisors at her side as she searches for a solution. I don't think Imagining anything further is a good move, although I suppose she finds a little time to help the Jennies keep the nobles honest, and visit her clan in Wycome...

My Inquisitor is splitting her time between running the Inquisition as a peacekeeping organization, defending Divine Leliana and her reforms, and finding people in Tevinter who can operate against Solas.
In her mind the Inquisition's only good for keeping things peaceful in the South; she agrees with Leliana that Solas knows too much about how the organization works to be used against him.

My Female Mage Trevelyan is happy with her new Husband, Cullen. Although their getting prepared for threats ahead, Ana knows they'll always have each other through each threat. That gives her hope for the future, despite the threats a ahead of them.
Female Mage Lavellan returned to her Dalish tribe, unhappily and in total depression. She's stil recovering from her love leaving her to do genciode on everyone.

Probably off to Tevinter, searching for a team that can help stop Solas, like was suggested by the ending... but other than that, I don't really have any. I didn't really have any set headcannons for the Warden until DA2, or for Hawke either until after DAI (and Trespasser) came out. So when DA4 comes out, I'm sure I will revisit my character again and imagine what became of her more fully, depending how that game turns out. But, I've never been one for super wrapped up endings. I like endings that leave a little to the imagination. I am hoping the IQ shows up again in the next game, whether as a cameo or in some other way, so that is part of it.

Officially, my head-canon for my Nanaya Lavellan is that she disbanded the Inquisition, but not before giving both Fereldan and Orlais a nice little angry spat after all the bullsh*t she waded through.
Then she retires and takes up residence in Kirkwall since Varric kindly gave her the title of Comtesse. Time and time again, she visits her (still alive) clan in Wycome, and meets with ex-Inquisition remnants to try and find a way to save Solas from himself...and continues to meet her lover in her dreams in hopes of changing his heart.
In my crazy, twisted fangirl head-canon she ended up carrying Solas' child after the battle with Corypheus but has to keep him a secret to avoid a scandal. But eventually she had to relocate her son after the events of Trespasser in order to protect him from potential enemies. It's a long, silly story that I won't go into great detail about, and I doubt people would actually listen to the ramblings of a sad fangirl like me XD

Unofficially, she's building a network of covert agents with the help of Hawke and her companions to try and uncover Solas' next move.

After disbanding the Inquisition, Iaris Lavellan spends a fair amount of her time documenting both the story of the Inquisition and the forgotten history she uncovered during her time as Inquisitor. She saw too much of what history had forgotten, she is determined to not let her story fall into myth as well. Additionally her work has earned her an honorary position at the University of Orlais.
Despite her dedication to sharing the truth of her exploits she has kept much of her revelations on elven lore and...personal involvement with Solas close to her chest. She's been in close contact with her clan in Wycome and is considering how to best approach sharing the truth with them.
She has also invested a fair amount of her personal wealth into commissioning a functional prosthetic arm from Dagna. She's got far too much left to do to let something as minor as losing an arm slow her down.
And of course whenever she's not buried in her scholarly affairs she's working with her friends from the Inquisition to build a network of contacts to help track down Solas. She's not doing all this work just to let her foolish lover bring the world to ruins after all.

After disbanding the inquisition, my Inquisitor and Cullen retired to a life of passion and sex ****** all the days of the week in a house far far away of everything, they act like rabbit in heat and take long baths.
Something like that.

I totally forgot about the dog because I hate dogs.

Kara Trevelyan, while keeping the Inquisition, because of its power and importance being one of the only organization able to stop Solas instantly begins breaking apart its own power and her own personal power to stop any potential of corruption. She begins handing over most of the Inquisition's day to day operations to someone else...not sure who. While spending a lot of time with Cullen in her free time. She begins traveling Thedas and setting up small Resistance Cells. Cells, while started by her, are seperate and independent of the Inquisition, and she actively encourages them to form other Cells. Their mission: Stop Solas. And begin to try proving him wrong by improving the lot of every day people throughout the continent.

I'm trying not to commit to anything because it's possible the character will turn up again the next game, and what the writers will say the Inquisitor has been up to might contradict what I imagine they've been doing.
Thankfully my "canon" Lavellan who romanced Solas has a story-given motivation: Disbanded the Inquisition, vowed to save Solas from himself, works tirelessly with Harding, Cassandra, and Leliana to find him and stop him. Set her sights on Tevinter, is working there. Has dreams every night of the Dread Wolf watching her sadly from the distance, but always disappears before she can reach him. Knows that since he watches her dreaming she evokes visions and memories of things she loves about this world and why it's worth preserving.
Apart from that, I'm not committing to any headcanon.

First, what happened during Trespasser: the Inquisition changes hands (ohoho, double-pun!); Divine Vivienne is in charge.
After the Solas fiasco, though, some internal changes need be made. Leliana and Cassandra will have to accept demotions or be shown the door. ***edit*** Going off the epilogue, Cassandra would likely leave due to differences with the Divine (and, by extension, probably the Inquisitor himself). Leliana was hardened and mentioned something about retiring, while actually working for the Inquisition in secret, so we'll go with that. Scout Harding will get a bigger role, but our new spy-master will be... Servis!! Congrats man, you've earned it -- looking forward to working with ya.
. So now, what Solas knows/knew of the Inquisition is no longer valid.
The Inquisitor meanwhile takes the role of General Manager, basically being the middle-man between the Spymaster/Strategist/Diplomat and Most Holy herself. He gives the Inquisition general direction. Most Holy has the final word (more often than not, she and Inq will be on the same page anyway).
Solas is public enemy #1. We're not taking any chances.

(A sketch because I'm not "a little too into this".)
http://wobblelikeaje...tions-586010313
(A short fic to go with the sketch)
http://wobblelikeaje...10%3A1453490293
SHORT STORY:
With the Inquisition disbanded, Lavellan and Rainier have some time to visit Varric (and her estate) in Kirkwall before cracking down on Solas. So they charter a boat and fish the whole way.
Sera will probably be there doing her Jenny thing. Rainier and Lavellan will act as friends, briefly. They'll stay north, eventually making it to Tevinter. Then Dorian comes back into the picture, etc. etc.

The Inquisition is disbanded and the covert remnants go underground to plot their next moves toward eliminating the Solas problem. Skyhold is turned over to Ferelden while the anti-Solas group works out of Kirkwall until property can be purchased in Tevinter to serve as a base closer to the impending confrontation.

Uuuh..
Anael Trevelyan has kept the Inquisition but she and her husband Cullen have a modest house in the mountains near a lake (the commander loves quiet places) with their mabari and their horses, where they retire when they want to run away from politics and duty and spend some time together (and have a lot of sex.. *cough cough* I mean snuggle together near the fireplace..).
Even if Solas was her friend, she will put the wellbeing of Thedas in front of everything and is ready to do her best with her renewed Inquisition and the help of Divine Leliana to track him down and try to redeem him if possible, or ultimately stop him. She asked Cullen to teach her how to fight single-handed and is not willing to let the loss of an arm bring her down.
Silme Lavellan (which will be my canon) has gone quite depressed (as if she wasn't already!) and disbanded the Inquisition in tears after the way those shems treated her when she sacrificed everthing for them. She is however restless and not chilling at all. At first she felt immensely alone and wanted to visit her clan, but she was afraid of being judged by her parents and her Keeper and didn't want to have to explain everything. So she sent a few scouts to check how they are doing and found out that many members of Clan Lavellan have also gone missing...
Now she works closely with Leliana and Divine Cassandra, and keeps constant contact with Dorian up in Tevinter for any sign of change.
She dreams every night hoping for a way to reach out to her lover and convince him there is good in this world and he doesn't have to destroy it..

I'm trying to avoid developing it too much, in case DA4 has different plans (Hawke and Isabela were supposed to be on a ship far from Kirkwall, right about now!) ![]()
I've had a few ideas for my Rhiannon Lavellan though.
-She writes some kind of book (Memoirs? Notes?) to try and document everything she's learned about elven history, so she can try to tell her people.
-She takes it to the Keeper at Wycome. Along with Sera, so she can introduce her girlfriend to her old family/friends.
-They stay at Kirkwall for a while, catching up with Varric and Hawke, and planning the next move against Solas.

My epilogue left me with some surprisingly dismal thoughts about Findabair Lavellen and what she does in the immediate aftermath of trespasser. Everyone seemed to scatter to the winds, except Cullen. Although I've eschewed power and prestige for PC's before (the idea of becoming queen or viscount never seemed all that appealing), I was strangely reluctant to disband the Inquisition. The whole Exalted Council felt like the old order (read: human nobility) attempting to oust a politically powerful elf--who, I admit, did use her power as the Inquisitor to help the Dalish--so that the status quo could be restored. The Jaws of Hakkon demonstrates that similar oustings happening in the past. With Leliana as Divine it felt very natural to keep the Inquisition and be the strong arm of Divine Victoria's reforms.
So Findabair Lavellen keeps Skyhold. Although much of the army is dismantled enough remains that she and Leliana can feel secure. With Varric and Dorian both promoted I presume both act as important political allies for the Inquisitor because I am sure that Orlais and Ferelden don't stop attempting to wear the Inquisiton down or subsume it into their own forces. Necessity draws most of the Inquisition away, leaving Findabair and Cullen to stew over how best to go about stopping Solas. The epilogue made me feel like perhaps Findabair and Cullen become workaholics and just throw themselves into this project and the project of assisting Leliana's reforms because neither really have a life to go back to after the Inquisition. I imagine Findabair feels estranged from her clan and her heritage after the events of Trespasser, and although she continues to love them and support them she rarely visits them in Wycome because she's afraid of the choice that will force her into: reveal the truth of the Elven gods or respect the ancient Dalish traditions. Even though Findabair was in a relationship with Solas she constantly defended the Dalish to him, pushed him to think about the potential of the future instead of the past, and kept her Valleslin. I imagine she struggles with doubt about her decision to do so after the events of Trespasser, but ultimately believes that she is right and that the current world has value and the traditions of the Dalish have important revolutionary meanings in her contemporary context.
I also imagine that she struggles with some phantom pain from her wound and is haunted by a growing sense of powerlessness now that she is no longer necessary for the preservation of Thedas. Who is the Inquisitor without the Anchor? Does she really have the power to save Solas from himself? She obviously can't return to her identity as a Dalish First but what will her post-Anchor identity be? She'll still champion her causes: protecting the College of Enchanters, keeping a tighter surveillance on the Grey Wardens, and making sure Briala and Celene follow through on policies that are kinder to elves. Maybe she also tries to track down Morrigan for arcane answers or the wisdom of Mythal.
I imagine that she still keeps in contact with all her friends, particularly Dorian, Cassandra, Sera, Varric, and Cole, and that the Bull's Charger's stop by Skyhold, but that her relationship with Vivienne grows distant. Occasionally Vivienne sends her annoyed letters that pretend to be simpering sweet, haha.
Ultimately I hope that Dagna fits her out with a wicked-sweet arm and that herself goes to Tevinter and confronts Solas and deals with the Qunari invasions, but that's in the developer's hands for now. ![]()

I don't have a headcanon. I like things to actually be official before i think about them and since i don't write the stories and there's thousands of other people who have their own it wouldn't be very official. Whatever they say happened to the character is what i count. Just the way i am.

Officially retired. Taking lots of vacations to Kirkwall and hanging with Varric all the while:
human rogue: Helping Cassandra rebuild the Seekers
qunari warrior: Married to Josephine and helping run a merchant empire.
But that's their day job.
By night, they run a secret society made up of senior members of the old Inquisition, determined to find and stop Solas. And right now they are looking for allies in Tevinter.

My Trevelyan spent several months after the Exalted Council disbanding the Inquisition, including Skyhold, while letting Leliana and Harding establish the shadow fauxqusition. She and Cullen then retired to that Templar nursing home for a time, all the while receiving reports from Tevinter and possibly recruiting some of the former templars to be Seekers or other agents. Vivienne is Divine, so while Trevelyan is friendly to her, she doesn't trust Viv enough to let her in on her plans. Harding is going to be the lead agent within Tevinter, sending messages to Dorian through dead drops. Trevelyan is in constant communication with Dorian through the sending crystal, and will be ready to head north when needed, but for now is lying low in hopes of lessening Solas' attention on her.

I finished Trespasser yesterday, so I've not had too much time to think this through.
However, I'd like to say my Inquisitor is not ready to retire. Sure, he lost his left forearm, but in a world with magic, I would like to think he will find a suitable replacement so he can continue being a powerful mage. Whether that's through some king of magic-infused metal/wooden forearm, or one that is magically cloned and attached, I can't say. Regardless, the Inquisitor's final mission will be to convince his friend Solas that the current world is worth preserving, or at least that there must be another way to combine the spirit and mundane worlds without killing everyone.

My male Trevelyan went back home to Ostwick for awhile before moving to Kirkwall to try and get a fresh start. Might break up with Dorian during this period, I haven't decided.
Female Trevelyan starts that Templar retirement home with Cullen, has fun with the Red Jennies, and eventually has a few children.
Male Lavellan still does some work with the Inquisition but mostly retires to Antiva and to be a stay at home Dad while Josephine manages the family trade.
Female Lavellan goes back to her clan, shares all the knowledge she learned with her Keeper, and tries to prepare them for the troubles to come.
