rename the "neverwinter nights 2" folder stored under "my documents" and start nwn2. this will reset all your settings and will load the game without any mods.

I'll try this one too, i'll let you know ^^

go to the NwN2 installation folder and try running nwn2main.exe with a double-click ...

pretty much out of ideas on this end

Done, but still nothing :(

I tried to reset the video drivers too, but still got the same results.

open Task Manager, sort by the "CPU" column [not "CPU Time"], start NwN2 and watch the percentage of CPU it's using

basically I'm just curious if it's looping at full-throttle or not,

I googled a bit, and I found a topic where a guy had my same problem. They said it's a .dll file, probably a DirectX one, and he managed to fix it. Unfortunately the link that led to the solution is disappeared, since it was on the former BioWare forum (social.bioware.com or something).

Anyone has any guess about which .dll file might be?

I'll check in the meanwhile what you proposed Kev :)

Checked the CPU percentage. It's between 00 and 01.

Ah, now that I remember...

Here are my Computer specs.

OS: Win7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Six-Core

RAM: 8,0 GB

Video Card: NVidia GeForce GTX 750

that strikes me as a likely culprit.

Suggest:
- update Win7 @microsoft.
- run CCleaner on registry & delete temp files.
- reinstall dx9 June 2010 v.9.29.1974

Tried and... nope, It didn't work.

One thing changed though: I couldn't close it with Task Manager. I could only reset the computer or it would have stayed with black screen forever.

sorry i'm out of idears,

It's easy to say it's something dealing with graphics (directX / vid-drivers / win7), but it could be something about your installation of NwN2 itself (multiple installs, perhaps)

since I gather this happens only w/ NwN2 and the rest of your system is fine

ps. On the rare occasion that NwN2 crashes on me I can't close it with Task Manager either; but in my case it's because i turn the graphics up too high and likely run out of RAM/vid-RAM.

there's something really weird going on. did you already reinstall the game since this happened?

I doubt the problem is the "multi-installs", because I installed only once NwN2 since my computer is quite new. I bought it in... May 2015, I think. Maybe June.

Yes, I did: at least 5 times :(
