Hi all,
I really apologize but I spent a couple hours last night trying to figure this out and more time today. i am in effect a complete newbie with this stuff and would greatly appreciate any help you folks could offer.
I read all the posts about "how do I link my gamertag" and followed the instructions given, but my problem is different.
Essentially I never used Xbox live before. I have played online on PC for years and was content with that, but it wasn't until I knew Mass Effect 2 was coming out that I made the plunge. I bought a game network adapter and a Live gold subscription and set it all up. i can connect to XBox Live. I carefully read the instructions that I needed to make sure my gamer tag (which I set up a couple weeks ago) was linked to my EA acct before redeeming codes. When I followed the great advice from someone on here (her name starts with a K...sorry I can't recall off hand, but thanks!) and went to the link where it said first I needed to play an EA game on Xbox Live first or something to that effect. I did not understand why I should possibly need to do this since I just paid 70 bucks for a collectors edition but somehow I needed to use another EA game first? Anyway I loaded up Battlefield Bad Company, ran around for around 15 -20 minutes and got shot up. I turned it off and NOW when I go to https://profile.ea.com/myprofileAdd.do and try to link my tag it says "System Error. Please try again later.".
I am at my wits end. I don't understand at all what I am doing wrong or how to fix it (or if there is some glitch on the EA side). I apologize if someone else asked something similar but I waded through posts and couldn't find it. Again if anyone could offer guidance I would be very greatful. Games just weren't this complicated back in my day! lol
Never used Xbox Live before, please help cause I dont get it

Nobody has reported a similar issue before, I'm afraid. I'd speak to EA support.

Hi there, you still need a hand?
The part about needing an online EA game is misleading - you can use your Mass Effect 2 disc ok. Just load up the disc, and when it asks you for your login details use the details (ie. email address and password) that you use for this site (which MUST be the same as what you use for your EA master account/site login at ea.com)
Then if you refresh your profile page at EA..com, it will automatically have picked up your gamertag, and you will see it listed there. Click on it to set it as default and you're gold!
