I'd just like to know if there a should be a reasonable expectation at all for additional information about the game before E3.

Probably not going to hear much of anything worthwhile till E3.

No idea checking through their tweets is as good as it gets for the moment.

Plausible deniability is the name of the game.

If the devs play up Feature X, and then for whatever reason Feature X can't be included in the final release, then people get upset.  Whereas if they work on Feature X for years, say nothing, and then fail to include it because it's broken and the game gets shipped without it, then no one ever knows their dirty little secret.

I really want information about the game, but I recognize that informing the public about what the game contains is only worthwhile if they're 100% sure that the feature will be included in the game.  Sadly, it's better for them to over-deliver on modest claims than have to explain why they're not living up to bold promises.

In conclusion, we're not going to hear anything of consequence for a long time.

5 months is not a "long time".

You're assuming that we're going to hear anything of consequence in five months.  I expect a bunch of vague generalities and a highly choreographed and staged video sequence of game footage.

That's a pretty safe assumption. Advertising the game's features is a critical part of the marketing process.

 ;_; don't break my heart.

I would love to have more news soon... especially about the new squadmates ... but I think we will have to wait E3...

It's a long time if you have problems with patience. Like myself. :D

Getting sucked into another franchise helps with that problem.

Well, they could at least present some crew members or prologue of the story.

Lets look at what (we think) we know:

It takes place in the Helius Sector of the Andromeda galaxy.

That means that from a gameplay perspective, the Mass Effect trilogy will take a backseat, given the enormous distance between Andromeda and the Milky Way.  Cameos and references are quite likely, but aside from the base lore (different races existing, the "Mass Effect", eezo, etc.) it will most likely be something distinct from the original trilogy.

There is a character named "Ryder".

Whether he/she is the protagonist (aka "the Pathfinder") remains to be seen, but I think it's likely, given the BioWare tradition of giving the protagonist a NAME-TITLE for their main character.

There is a ship known as the Ark.

We don't know if the Ark is going to be similar to the Normandy in function (It appears to be too large for a stealth frigate, if appearances are anything to go by, it is presumably a colony ship.  In all likelihood it's more akin to a space fortress; with an name like "Ark", it must be a very self-sustaining ship (much like the biblical Ark), but with weapons.

Resource infrastructure and settlement establishment is important.

It looks like we have to balance things on a societal level; I imagine a ship like the Ark requires lots of resources, so securing additional ones looks to be a good source of side missions.

There will be a "Strike Team", that you can send out to collect resources, defend outposts, etc.

I get a "War Table" vibe from this.  I liked that feature, and hopefully it gets improved upon here.

There are seven companions.  You get to customize/upgrade their weapons, gear, and even appearance.

One of them is a biotic named "Cora", and a Krogan named "Drack".

There are other characters that can be befriended/romanced that don't necessarily follow you in the field, akin to Cullen or Josephine from Inquisition (you can befriend/romance them, but they aren't companions in the traditional sense.)

A bit small compared to other BioWare greats, but seven "selectable" is still plenty to work with, so it's reasonable to expect a balance of both character archetypes and gameplay capabilities.

Loyalty missions return.

YES!  I loved this about ME2, and it doubles as extra content, character development, and loot.  A triple-win.

There is a faction known as the Remnant, whose tech and equipment is psuedo-Prothean in nature (ancient, ultra-powerful, etc.)

Extra lore is always nice, and it appears to be a priority regarding the aforementioned resource acquisition and settlement.

There is a villainous faction known as the Khet, companions react favorably when you disrupt their influence in the sector.

I like it when you can do something that everyone approves of, like blowing up Cerberus in the Mass Effect Trilogy.  It appears to also expand the narratives you can pursue with them.

Dialogue is more intuitive than ever.

Interrupts are expanded upon, with more options to change how conversations go.  I get the feeling that the Paragon/Renegade system is still present (I hope it is, it's an excellent system) but with more options within them.

We are not alone.

This isn't an empty galaxy.  Forging alliances and working with other groups in paramount to survival.  It looks like some of those alliances won't be easy, it will also affect companions' approval.

I'd say we'll get tidbits along the road to E3, but after we'll be getting a steady flow of information.

I've been playing Fallout and AC, I do have the Borderlands Handsome Collection, but have barely touched it. I should give it another shot. Thanks!

Thanks for all of this information! I didn't know half of it. So this has filled my "no-news" void. For today, at least. :D

All I really want to know before release are a handful of the companions and whom are voicing them (and maybe a potential romance interest or two, but I'm not fussy about that).

I really want to know the voice actors as well! I have a few in mind who I'd like. :D

As far as romances.... I'm going to avoid all "Here's who you can romance" articles as much as I can. I spoiled myself for Dragon Age: inquisition and knew before the game was installed I was going after Cullen in my first playthrough, and Solas in my second. I want to be pleasantly surprised, and see what kind of decisions I make on the fly and how they react to it.

But really, any news will pacify me at this point.

You're not getting anything until E3. E3-Launch will be the marketing campaign length entirely.

Dragon Age, KOTOR/KOTOR II, Jade Empire (if you see a theme here, you're absolutely right)

I agree, but since i visit these forums a few times each day, or even more, i can see how it would benefit from some real information soon. Though E3 is probably when it will happen, and don't get your hopes up, its not like EA will let Bioware do more than 5 minutes on stage at the press event.
