Would that make me love EAware even less than today? Most likely.
I would not consider buying a console, I might consider not buying the game.
I've honestly had more problems with Steam (system crashes as Steam tries to verify the game (Borderlands - the pre sequel)) and a more minor publisher, Ubisoft than I've had with Origin (with Origin, you seem to just be able to sign in and that's it). Heck, you even have to disable 'U-play' in order to even play Watchdogs - which is a pretty old game.
If you want to be a consumer advocate and not just-another-guy-who-hates-EA-because-reasons, you should be equally critical of the other publishers.
Edit: Steam isn't a publisher, retailer I guess. Borderlands is a steam exclusive I think. But I have people claim Steam is the better alternative to Origin. My experience is otherwise.
DA:I had timed exclusive DLC. We've seen what happened with Tomb Raider and other titles, with developers openly declaring that sales are lower.
While this game has been announced for X1, PS4 and PC there is still a chance we'll end up with timed DLC exclusives for X1 consoles.
Id just like to know what people would think about such a move. Allowing you to buy the game first, then telling you about timed DLC later.
And how would that influence your decisions to purchase either the game or the DLC and would you even buy a console to play a timed exclusive for one game, a few months early?
Or is this whole idea ineffective?
What's kind of interesting about Rise of the Tomb Raider, is that at least for the PC release, CD or ? continued to add to the game, presumably within the terms of their agreement with M. Soft, possibly with the idea of making up for the timed exclusive. The PC release. I think, adds two major (one new) DLCs plus some minor stuff.
If developers can use the financing from a paid for timed exclusive to improve and add to a game, this might make it more or an acceptable practice.
