Would that make me love EAware even less than today? Most likely.

I would not consider buying a console, I might consider not buying the game.

I've honestly had more problems with Steam (system crashes as Steam tries to verify the game (Borderlands - the pre sequel)) and a more minor publisher, Ubisoft than I've had with Origin (with Origin, you seem to just be able to sign in and that's it). Heck, you even have to disable 'U-play' in order to even play Watchdogs - which is a pretty old game.

If you want to be a consumer advocate and not just-another-guy-who-hates-EA-because-reasons, you should be equally critical of the other publishers.

Edit: Steam isn't a publisher, retailer I guess. Borderlands is a steam exclusive I think. But I have people claim Steam is the better alternative to Origin. My experience is otherwise.

DA:I had timed exclusive DLC. We've seen what happened with Tomb Raider and other titles, with developers openly declaring that sales are lower.

While this game has been announced for X1, PS4 and PC there is still a chance we'll end up with timed DLC exclusives for X1 consoles.

Id just like to know what people would think about such a move. Allowing you to buy the game first, then telling you about timed DLC later.

And how would that influence your decisions to purchase either the game or the DLC and would you even buy a console to play a timed exclusive for one game, a few months early?

Or is this whole idea ineffective?

What's kind of interesting about Rise of the Tomb Raider, is that at least for the PC release, CD or ? continued to add to the game, presumably within the terms of their agreement with M. Soft, possibly with the idea of making up for the timed exclusive. The PC release. I think, adds two major (one new) DLCs plus some minor stuff.

If developers can use the financing from a paid for timed exclusive to improve and add to a game, this might make it more or an acceptable practice.

Well crap, I guess im in the minority here but I thought it was really annoying when I had to wait the DAI dlc for PS4. Based on the videos I watch, youtube will give suggestions and all it takes is a glance and something gets spoiled all because I had been previously researching the DLC or watching a trailer of it.

I understand EA has a good relationship with Xbox but why limit your audience like that? I was playing the witcher 3 around the time the DLC came out which is just terrible marketing.

I wouldn't say that 1Million is low for RoTR. The devs never claimed that, for example - it sold in a month what Bloodborne sold in six, and the former is yet to be released on PC and PS4.

In the end, EA will again have to chose between Microsoft's bank account, or the fans'.

Don't mistake my dislike towards EA for blindness towards other offenders, hell, I don't even play Ubisoft games anymore because I can't stand UPlay.

That said, in regards to Steam, I am yet to experience any major bugs with their service, and as much as I like GOG, when it comes to technical reliability

Steam and Origin are superior.

I would probably be annoyed if this happen. I would almost certainly ****** about it on the internet.

but if I'm being 100% honest I would still buy ME:A and buying the DLC would depend largely on how good the base game is rather than my disliking of the practice of timed exclusive DLC.

I'm not a fan with story dlc. Partly because people who do get the content early often like throwing spoilers everywhere.

The only problem I have with timed exclusives is the enhanced risk of seeing spoilers if you don't go with whichever version gets the early release content. If I manage to avoid all the spoilers, then no harm no foul. I doubt we'll be seeing any significant timed exclusivity here, though. With Bioware under EA there just isn't sufficient incentive I think any console would be willing to offer up to sway EA away from sales for any period of time. Now, early access to minor stuff like certain gear (preorder bonus type stuff) or maybe even a MP beta or demo..... That I could see some timed exclusivity for. Games have seen console exclusive preorder items before (which usually become available later on all platforms in some form) and we've seen a couple of games with early beta/demo access for specific consoles. Most recently Xbox is getting 'The Division' beta a day early.

Timed exclusive content is possible; though I don't think there was any of that with Star Wars Battlefront.  Only the first DLC for DA:I was a timed exclusive and the rest were released to XBox One and PS4 simultaneously.

Personally, while I won't be affected by it, I'm not a fan of this type of thing.  Given the gap that PS4 has maintained in sales, I don't think there'd really be a point anymore.  PS4 doesn't need to assert it's dominance and Microsoft is no longer publicly stating how many Xbox Ones are being sold.

Timed exclusives are, imo , an even sleazier business practice than Day One DLC.

It's tiered levels of service, plain and simple.

Let's not mention Season Passes being announced for games that haven't released and the developer has no idea what content will be included with it.

I never bought a system because a multiplatform title has had timed exclusive content or DLC.

I buy a console for it's exclusive titles.

Seems like a pointless practice then if it won't sell consoles. Hoping they give up on it instead of trying to tweak the system.

Day 1 DLC we're stuck with. Even if it is an excuse not to fully finish the game and charge extra for the missing component.

It depends on what type of time delay we're dealing with.  I have an xbone but I'd much prefer to get it on PC.

I dont really care, but I would prefer it if they just didnt do any exclusive crap (aside from the EA access early access thing, because that kind of makes sense).

I'd prefer everyone get to play at the same time

Never been a fan of exclusivity deals(& not just because I was always on wrong end of it) I've always thought it was a dick move & would be happy if it never showed its fugly head again.

Just my opinion
