I recently started a new play through of ME and was reminded of thresher maws appearing on random planets. Since we will be playing a game somewhat similar to ME1 I was wondering if somehow Thresher Maws would make it to Andromeda. I think it would be cool to see them again.

Hopefully not.

They are a MW species that made it to other worlds basically by interstellar explorers accidentally seeding them there. The only way they could ever be in Andromeda is if the same thing happened - which would make zero sense for new explorers, but could make sense if we find that MW species have made it to Andromeda in past cycles. Personally, I think that last bit will be a major plot revelation for the new game.

If they can be fit into the weird, ill fitting MMO/DAI style zones it's unfortunately probably going to have as elites or "raid bosses" Maybe.

not sure about Thresher maws but we do know there are going to be some weird alien looking creatures one of them looks like a flying one thanks to the trailer but again that depends on whether that's carried through into the main game or not I think, but we have seen a flying one in one of the trailers. I think it's safe to say that Andromeda will have it's own set of alien species to dodge or kill as we explore it just as in ME1 did with the Thresher maws but as to what it's going to be it's  hard to say right now.

They absolutely shouldn't.

But it depends on how much sway both the "rule of cool" and reuse of existing assets has on this development team.

So I'd say we have a 50/50 shot of them appearing, and angry worldbuilding purists like myself getting all twitchy-eyed at how nonsensical it is.

Maybe if we walk without rhythm we won't attract the worm.

I agree, it'd be better if they didnt show up. But, it wouldn't be nonsensical. They are spread by space travelers and they are, by all indications, native to Tuchanka. So, even if they showed up with NO explanation, the obvious (and only) explanation is that explorers from the Milky Way made it to Andromeda before. They could either leave that a great mystery, or work it into the plot...for better or for worse.

I expect Space Dragons to replace Thresher Maws in Andromeda...

In term of lore, we shouldn't see Thresher Maws unless another species from the Milky Way made it to Andromeda in a previous cycle.

Unless we are carrying Thresh Maw eggs on our ship or something I doubt it.

Forgotten about the spore thing. Maybe possible that Krogan colonists will accidently or purposefully bring spores.

With them being part of the rite of passage that might not be so far fetched.

... or explorers from Andromeda made it to the Milky Way and returned home.

Anyway, the Thresher Maw fights where epic as hell, breed more Thresher Maws, transport them with Space Ships to Andromeda, and kick the aliens butt.

The spores can stay dormant for millennia and I suspect it probably takes years for the beast to develop to its full size afterward.

It would make more sense for them to show up a few years/centuries after the storyline of Andromeda.

Maybe someone smuggled a thasher maw egg onboard. If BioWare is making another trilogy, a baby maw might show up in the sequel.

The word there is can. Can scientists artificially stimulate the spores out of dormancy?

As you say it may take years for them to develop to the Milky Way size but there have been some rumours that game might be kicking a while after initial arrival, so if that was the case it may be possible to see them even if they are adolescents.

Hey that ship is big maybe we have Thresher Maws in Cryo Stasis ready to use as weapons against Alien species. Yes I fully support us weaponizing Thresher Maws, I mean we took down a Reaper using one. Now depending on when we leave for Andromeda maybe we know about that and purposely take some with us to Andromeda.

Maybe it could be the Renegade option to seed planets with Thresher Maws that are too barren for us to survive but fine for Thresher Maws. Its the Milky Way thing to do when making a name for ourselves in a new Galaxy.

I like the thresher maws but bored seeing them. Wish they had more of intelligent mythical creatures such as vicious Bigfoot/Yeti, killer Hobbit, etc..

The obvious explanation would be that the maw spores were on the Ark ships themselves. Thus you brought the Thresher Maws to Andromeda. Naturally, they'd all be young (nothing Kalros sized), unless the game takes place over many years or takes place well after the initial arrival.
