I rarely go by cutscenes for anything.

They tend to be nonsensical most of the time.

The written lore mostly ends up being ignored by the game anyway and eventually retconned when the slightest need arises,

so taking the existing lore at face value is much of the time an exercise in futility with Bioware.

You expect better?

I expect consistency and reliable lore, I usually end up disappointed with Bioware.

No thanks, I would like the other classes to actually have a reason to exist. And I say this as someone who plays Sentinel.

Adepts and Vanguards are basically the mages of Mass Effect and mages in games are usually glass cannons meaning they excel at burst damage but once you close to them, they're finished. Adept is more of a support class but the Vanguard class was never that great. There are many ways you can increase the power of Vanguards and still keep the game fair.

I know that feel.

Which is why I favor fiction that follows its own lore as best it can, and I reward it with patronage.

...I'd spend so much money for a bust of that man, like you would't even believe how I'd spend on it.

o.o

The last thing I bought from Bioware was a N-7 hoodie I throw on in the winter.

They should be but they won't. Any chance of that goes out the window in favor of multiplayer balance.

Sorry, but Vanguard by ME3 was basically invincible. I am not sure it needs being made more powerful.

I support this, but there should also be biotic cryponite. so after being OP the whole game the Biotic class hits a wall and can't progress because the boss if unbeatable for them....unless they have played MP and proved their skills are at the top of the community by soloing gold in the first week.

IMO, they are.  Biotics rock.

Lore-wise thinking, biotics being more powerful makes sense. But they can't do it because they have to balance every class. If they make biotics OP, noone would choose soldier. I always pick soldier for my default male shep because it fits the story more.

You'll end up disappointed with basically anybody.

Jack is supposed to be the most powerful human biotic in the galaxy.

I would prefer the classes be balanced and none of them "OP."

I am not opposed to FF in principle, but for it to work decently in practice you need to have good control of where AOE powers land.  For clunky implementation, see DAI (specifically Chain Lightning).

The railguns everyone carries should be able to kill people from a kilometer away. I'm not sure how good pushing people into walls forcefully would be if everything else was powerful as it should be.

At one point Samara pulls a skycar out of mid flight.

And in ME1 the codex mentions a legendary matriarch who brought down a cruiser(?) or something.

Be hard to put that into the game.

I honestly don't recall that, and I recall a lot.

Sounds like The Force Unleashed, where you pull down a Star Destroyer. :D

That's great, except this is a shooter series where enemies don't bother to get close to you, unless they're specific units.

So, to use ME3 as an example, Adepts would be hilariously OP against everything that isn't a Phantom.

Did you ever ask yourself why she can only do that in a cutscene and not during gameplay?

Because the cinematic designers don't care about consistency?

Gameplay/lore segregation should be an extremely rare occurence, and should be explained explicitly every time.

All the more reason for some sort of self-harm downside, or gross ineffectiveness at low levels.

Welcome to the world of video games

This doesn't need to be true.

I also miss the distinction between video games and computer games. Video games were played on a console or arcade cabinet. Computer games were played on a personal computer or mainframe.

Video games tended to be much simpler, and often action-oriented.

Computer games were more complex, and rarely action-oriented.

I play computer games.
