Hello! So how does animation reload hide works?

I've read 2 builds already that mentions this trick. One talked about Shadow Strike and the other about Smash.

Can you clarify? I know how to cancel part of the reload animation but I don't know how to skip it completely.

That's reload cancelling. I do this either by starting a sprint, meleeing, or using a power.

So they are the same thing? Basically, empty clip, press reload and then use the power?

My fave way to cancel reload on PS3 is on characters that can't dodge. So use this as practice to start with. Jug is the easiest because he can't hard cover or dodge. Volus second because he can't hard cover. For the rest like Batarians and Krogans, just dodge right, left or back as a cancel reload since they can't dodge in those directions but will still act as a perfect and very easy cancel reload.

The time to cancel reload is right after the click click sound and after a bullet already entering the chamber number.

The second method is using powers to CR. So shot, and after you hear the click click and/or see the number change (better to use sound cue), hit the Overload button or whatever power of choice.

The last method is to hide the reload via a power or going into hard cover. So as soon as you shot a shot of the Executioner, right away use a power like overload or go into hard cover. The Overload animation will happen while you do that power or go into hard cover, and your gun magically reloads during these animations.

I actually stumbled across reload cancelling by accident when I first started playing this game.

I think I was using the widow and hitting tac cloak to cancel it. That taught me the basic mechanics anyway.

Realod hide and reload cancel are different things, and they can, and should, be used together for maximum efficiency.

You can find a 10^n vids on YouTube on reload canceling.

This is one of mine on reload hide:

Note that I use the forward roll animation, but you can use any power animation with the same results.

This is what I was referring to. So it does exist. Is there a list of powers that hide your reload or any power will do?

The correct way to do it is shoot with 0 clip and use a power?

You need to be performing the power animation at the moment you would start the reload one.

Any power will do. Some dodge/melee animations will, too.

Animation Hide is a bit different than Reload Canceling.

I reload cancel by wall bouncing. Tapping A then getting out of cover quicky, not sure how effective this is but it's fun and feels cool

Tried a bit of reload hiding and it's not so easy. Sometimes it doesn't work well. I guess this varies from power to power...

It also varies from weapon to weapon. The key is to use the power more or less at the same time the reload animation starts. Now, the start of the animation is not that easy to detect at first. There are guns who enter the reload animation immediately after the last shot is fired and the clip is empty (for the example the Raider) and others who have a small delay (like the Claymore). So, in the case of the Raider, you have to very quick in using the power or dodging after firing, while the issue with the Claymore is timing it right so as not to do it too early.

Yeah, it's not really power dependant as much as it is weapon dependant. On many weapons it just can't be done.

I don't know what Deerber means about the weapon as I RC every weapon. But what made me learn the so called feature, is the Claymore.

I also forgot to add something else about how you can cancel reload, as you can also do it when a power is in cooldown (or if you have no nades left). ie. Claymore with tactical cloak or adrenalin rush. I always mash that power for a cancel reload whether that power is in cooldown or not.

Ok, RC is fine, I have no issue with that. I often start a sprint or just light melee (depending on the kit).

I'm trying to learn RH.

Take out the GI Claymore (a fave build of mine). Shoot, once you hear click click sound that your gun reloaded, press the tac cloak button to cancel the second half of the reload animation. Rinse repeat. Even if tac-cloak is still in cloak down. Keep pressing the tac-cloak button whenever you need a button to cancel the second half of the reload animation.

Oh, then don't worry about RH. That is like Deeber said, more weapon specific. Like Executioner on power classes. But it's something I barely ever do. Only happens by accident most of the times because I've never played a setup that synced that timing to always time out.

That is actually fine, there are many ways to reload cancel. I didn't know that you could do it with cd powers, but I like to start a sprint as I learned to stay mobile while doing Lone Wolf banner :P
