Two things:

First, there wasn't one in all 3 previous games. There was none in ME1, but only in ME2 and ME3 with the latter not actually a yeoman. 

Second, of those two one of them was for the ladies. Actually both since the other could be romanced by male or female.

Samantha Traynor = Me3

I have no problem with a male 'eye candy' yeomen for gamers that want it. It isn't like there wasn't 'hyper' masculine characters in Me before no reason the "yeomen" should be off bounds. It isn't like there wont be hyper feminine characters in other positions in the game so it isn't like anyone gains or loses with this change.

I'd like if Bioware changed roles a bit for the game. Male yeoman, female pilot, male doctor and female scientist, just mix it up a bit.
