I just realized that the art direction is brilliant on Zaeed's introduction. His face is purposefully shadowed while he takes down the punk. Then, in the reveal, he spins around to show his scarred visage. It's a minor point but it shows that someone knew what they were doing from a dramatic standpoint.
(I also realize that this small revelation doesn't warrant a thread but I couldn't find a good place to voice it.)

I tried to see if it's possible to get a peek at his face before the cutscene by turning the camera to face Shepard, and walking up to him real slowly. Doesn't work. Just before you can step close enough to see his face, the scene is triggered. Congrats, dev team: you passed the test!

I find Zaeed incredibly melancholic character. A bit like the Comedian from Watchmen. He seems like he doesn't care about anything, but I don't really think that's the case. Especially Citadel DLC showed how complex he is. I believe Zaeed has acted cold-hearted badass so long he doesn't remember anymore what it is to be, well, a decent human person. But he really dreams of other kind of life, without all mercenary ego and what comes with it. He just thinks he would be whining loser if he admitted that.

Zaeed should have been a love interest instead of Jacob. At least then you'd goddamn remember it.

I never thought of that but you're so right! They have got a similar attitude and I dislike them both for the same reason (being plain evil without a humanising justification).He reminded me if Canderous from KotOR. Except slightly less awesome.
I loved the Zaeed character. ME2 and 3. If you are going into hell, he's the guy you want at your back. He's a good ol' fashioned commando. Drop him in an area and watch crap burn down.
Honestly I enjoyed taking him along in MASS EFFECT 2. He was always sarcastic but was fun to hear from. I liked how he laughs at times when a target gets sacked.
BTW RIP his voice actor. he was a stoic sounding guy.
Zaeed should have been a Batarian, ex-SIU. That would have been perfect with his Blue Suns connection.

So killing him is like killing a part of Shepard. 
Zaeed doesn't add much to the game. He spends most of his time in the Normandy anyway because I rather take real companions with me to missions. I like his loyalty mission though.
Yeah..His loyalty mission is cool. The atmospjhere reminds me of one of those 80s action flicks that took place in El Salvador or something.
Speaking of killing him, I actually didn't do it this time. I played it earlier... I forgot I had to wait post-Suicide Mission to unlock the Renegade dialogue. Oh well. I didn't have enough Paragon to get his loyalty, so I guess he dies in ME3.
