I always wonder why there bis no one handed talent tree, they could make shield skill is different set than merge it with one handed. Look at Skyrim, there are one handed, two handed and shield skills separately.

We have dual wield talent i don't see why there cannot be one handed talent. maybe they think one handed talent players will use shield, so they merged the two together.

To think about it, learning one handed and shield separately will make the player invest in two talents compared with two handed and dual wield in which one talent for each.

VodeAn19,Try tanking three rogues and Morrigan and see how they smash through enemies like a hot knife through butter... A warrior is not needed nor wanted in my games.

To be sure I followed the set characters(rogue warrior, archer mage) in my first three games but,in my fourth  game I soon notice my rogue and Zevran was killing a lot of enemies. I found out by looking at the character's kill ratio. I also noticed Alistair was leveling up faster then my rogue so,in the Wilds and the Tower at Ostagar I place him and the others on hold ground and gain two some times three levels soloing the wilds and the Tower.

In my fifth game I went rogue with my warden,Leliana and Zevran and Morrigan as mage and haven't look back since. Of course there was a trial and error learning curve that resulted in restarting the game several times.

In my first 2-3 games I foolishly killed Zevran due to some bad advice.
