I havn't played any DLC, so don't know if the Quizzy gets 'better' but I personally found them to be an incredibly dull protagonist, so i'd prefer them to be as far away from DA4 as possibly.
But from what I know/think or have read, it sounds like their mission isn't over yet, so i'd rather see them as we saw Hawke/Warden; just popping in to help with a threat and then going about their business... Or dying. Whatever works ![]()

Dropping the Solas quest-line or resolving it too quickly would also be a huge mistake; you'd lose so much narrative tension. Imagine if DAI had begun "oh and after we resolved that little Mage and Templat tiff something new happened." DA2 had to start up a plot line from scratch but why throw away something that's been set up so carefully?
Um, that's exactly what happened to the Mage-Templar war in DAI.

So, what are the ods?
I suspect that the Tactical episode 3.5 hinted at by Darrah is going to be starring the Inquisitor: hence the comparison to X-Com, where the "Commander" runs the military organization but doesn't partake in the fight themselves: make a game where the protagonists doesn't fight, and you can bring back Quizzy, give satisfying conclusions to any plot thread left hanging, give enough fan service to shut up all but the most unpleasable corners of the audience, and serenely prepare for the fourth/fifth protagonist of the series.

That's an interesting idea. Maybe they heard how many fans were upset at the thought of the Inquisitor not being the PC in DA4 after Trespasser and are looking for a method to still have them as a "PC" of sorts, but in a branching game. Though I wonder how it would tie into DA4, through the Keep?

I'd say extremely low as a playable character. Apart from the developers saying explicitly there will be no repeat protagonists in "new chapter" games, the whole of Trespasser it is basically a farewell tour for the Inquisitor and crew. Also, the inquisitor basically states on the Exalted Counsel floor that s/he will not be adventuring anymore.
In an advisory role, I'd say your odds are really high. Aside from the before mentioned Solas business, the game went out of its way to show the Inquisitor communicating with Dorian (I'd lean toward Dorian as the repeat playable character for this chapter). The only question is whether or not Quizzy will get a speaking part or interact strictly through the notes. I'm hoping for the former, and I'd say the odds are good since Quizzy already has voice actors and is guaranteed to be alive.
Personally, I prefer it this way. The longer you keep the same protagonist around, the more likely the story will drop rocks on him or her.
