Im not saying to copy that scenario but it appears/implied that to beat solas you have to recruit those unknown to him

I don't know but Duncan became much more interesting to me, after I read The Calling. Getting to see his background and him as a new Warden, makes seeing him in DAO more nostalgic. So if our IQ played "a Duncun" to our next PC, it could be interesting but I'm afraid of what they'd do to our IQ.

Ew, I'm going to be pretty disgusted with Bioware if they think it's acceptable for the Inquisitor to just bugger off and make way for someone else after everything they went through with Solas and after all those "I swear I'm going to save/kill you" speeches.
The only reason people think the "recruit new people" line means a new protagonist is because of previous remarks made by Bioware about having a new protagonist every game. If, at the end of Mass Effect 2, Joker had asked Shepard "How are we going to defeat the Reapers", and Shapard replied "We'll find new allies", nobody would think Shepard would be replaced, they would have just discussed who these new companions would be.

I don't think it's a good idea to have us play as the Inquisitor again, but I do believe BioWare will include them somewhere. I have a feeling, it's what I would do anyway, that the Inquisitor will recruit us, to act as his/her hand within Tevinter or wherever we end up going (please, not Fereldan or Orlais again). Solas will not know this person. It would make it easier to manoeuvre with Solas having little knowledge of it.

I don't want my Inquisitor to be a recruiter, I just want her arm again ![]()

The Dragon Age series has never been marketed as having a recurring protagonist, or as a series about a single protagonist. It is only the fact that both franchises are made by the same company, with some team crossover, that has led fans to make these sort of statements again and again. Dragon Age is not Mass Effect and the DA people have never suggested that it is supposed to be like it.
Now, that's not to say that they can't or won't change their stance on the issue, but comparing DA to ME is a false equivalence.
And I say this as someone who also wants to see my Inquisitor again.

I do think the Inquisitor will appear again in some sort of capacity. I could see Maevaris and Dorian as the new protagonist's "advisors" - playing a large role in the plot, but not actually being companions, and the Inquisitor may show up at Dorian's request, much like Hawke made an appearance through Varric.

That's not what I mean.
I never said DA should have a recurring protagonist because ME did (I don't even like the way ME has the same protagonist for the entire series). I simply used ME as an example to show that the line about finding new allies isn't a statement that has to mean a new protagonist (a lot of people argue it does, and that this was Bioware stating the Inquisitor won't return). Put the line in a ME game (or any other game that doesn't have a new protagonist rule) and everyone would assume it referred to companions, not a new protagonist.

Final Fantasy (for example) was a new-protagonist-each-game series until FFX, nothing is set in stone. I also think some people seem to think that those of us who want the inquisitor to return want the inquisitor as the protagonist for every future DA game or something like that. We just want the same hero to finish the same story with the same rivalry/antagonist that was set up. This would only take one game. If BioWare is going to use a completely new story, new characters, new conflict, new villain, etc...that has nothing to do with the events of previous games then by all means have a new protagonist but don't continue the same story, conflict, characters, etc...and just randomly switch protagonists to some new unrelated person. If this were a tv series, a movie, or a new game series where the creators hadn't made statements about wanting to have a new protagonist with each game then everyone would expect the inquisitor to be the protagonist again. Nobody would assume the one to take down Solas and save the world would be some random unrelated person. Remember how when Vader cuts off Luke's hand, Wingbob Dingleberry took over and finished the series? Me either.

It seems like the Inquisitor is going to need a hand to recruit.

I just took that line as a reason for having new companions in the next game.

I hope so. If s/he's the Duncan then it means we'll get a new PC, so I'm all for it.

I fully expect the Inquisitor to appear in a role not dissimilar to Duncan's in Origins, yes...

My current theory is that we'll be getting an 80% new PC and 20% Inquisitor, with the Inquisitor playing as plot heavy non-combat segments scattered throughout the plot. The two would only interact through Dorian and the sending stone.

I'm thinking Inquisitor might be more of a Judi Dench for our new protagonist's Daniel Craig.

I rather doubt the Inquisitor and the new PC will interact face to face very much.

Give this person Silverite Wings of Clever. Couldn't've said that better myself.
