(On Wednesday!) - Hey it would ruin the alliteration to have this in the title.

 

Random thoughts / stories:

 

I will dance / sing / drop pants for adrenaline modules - please keep this in mind

 

Seriously, the more I play this game the more OP adrenaline modules become, and the more of a must have they are on a continually increasing # of kits. If you really want to score the highest, use an adrenaline module, ignore the bosses*, and run around clearing trash only. This will lead to very bloated scoring.

 

*what classifies as a boss unit vs trash unit really depends on your kit. Everything is a trash unit for GI

 

Why always pre-set Giant Reaper PUGs? There are other combo's in the game. It's like pugland realized 2.5 years ago that this was an easier combo than Rio Reaper.

 

I have been in 3 matches in the last couple months where the game started to auto use various consumables. As soon as I took damage it auto used an ops pack. Ended up using 4 of them on wave 1, then I spent the rest of the wave trying not to get hit, to preserve the last 2. Same thing with ammo packs, as soon as my clip was only 1/2 full, auto ammo pack. Also happened with med-gel, instant auto use and revive (although it would be tough for anyone to recognize this as i tend to gel before my body hits the floor). After 1 wave of this, the auto usage would stop. Again this has happened several times to me in the past few months, anyone else experience this?

 

Why are Collectors, with the highest defense values, worth less XP than any other faction?

 

As Collectors are my favorite faction to play against, why couldn't they have done a better job making them work for PS3? My last 2 matches against them ended with the Collectors getting soundly beaten all match, right up until the completion of the wave 10 objective, when they lash out from the jaws of defeat to secure ultimate victory over me. Damn you hard freeze.

 

You players dedicated to doing solos improve much faster at this game than those like myself who like to play in groups. I'm amazed at the level of patience and dedication you soloers have. For myself, the more Gold duo's I do, the faster the times are getting. What I'm curious about, how come the solo trend hasn't started to do random map / enemy combos, for the challenge? Considering all the previous benchmarks for soloing have been surpassed, maybe it's time for more challenge?

 

It is getting tougher to quick search for matches; certainly the playerbase is smaller than it was 2 years ago. I must confess, after trying to quick search with no result, I now have a habit of starting solo UUG matches, and letting people join in progress. I did this last week and rolled Giant Hazard / Collectors .. I immediately quit. Haz giant is worse than Collectors for frame rate loss on my PS3 (each PS3 seems to have it's own foibles). Bast case scenario I would have significant frame rate loss in later waves, no thanks!

 

TL:DR - Working as intended

Amps are a crutch. Try the shuriken no amps and try and be competitive.

Why are Collectors, with the highest defense values, worth less XP than any other faction?

I think it has to do with how points are assigned for enemies, and their cost to the wave budget.

 

For all enemies except collectors, the damage score (XP is proportional to this) is simply 10 times the budget cost. Example: Atlas is worth 100 pts to the wave budget and has a damage score of 1000. Ravager is worth 60 pts to the budget and yields 600 damage points.

 

But this is not true for collectors. Praetorian gives same XP as an atlas, banshee or a prime (1000 damage score) but costs 120 to the wave budget. Abomb is the biggest culprit - 40 pts to the budget but only 200 damage points. And there are lot of abombs in collector games. All this put together results in collectors giving the least XP.

I've never experienced this.

It has been done a few times iirc but, as far as I know, not for a long time, yep.

Shamelessly bumping my own thread. On the topic of random thoughts:

 

A couple weeks ago I started a solo UUG match set to public (used a QFE/Lancer) and rolled a very friendly Glacier Reaper. No one joined and I extracted some 31(?) mins later.

 

For whatever reason I didn't get credit for the Gold solo, not that it's a huge deal but I'm curious why it didn't register? Anyone know?

^ Yes, the swarmer threat is much more op at less then 30fps. Valuable source told me it's another Unreal Engine clever mechanic. That, and on console you're running blind half the time since the camera doesn't turn fast enough.

 

And yes, most like your D-Pad.

Another random thought:

 

PC only players don't understand the true swarmer threat!

Not sure which console you are on but I had the same thing happen to me on my PS3 controller 2x in the past.  It would suddenly start spamming ops packs/light melee, usually when the controller was vibrating.  So I took the controller apart with a small screwdriver.  The first time a small black plastic piece that had broken off somewhere fell out, somewhat worrisome but apparently not important. (shrug)  The second the gray rechargeable battery was rattling around and perhaps interfering with the d-pad/pressure sensors, so I just glued it in place into the brackets.  Seemed to work. I also bought a OEM backup replacement from eBay since it’s hard for me to justify buying a new controller that costs half as much as the entire system.
