When I google'd it people said just do it whenever. So story wise, when should I do it? Should I just go straight to it after or before the end of the story?

It's recommended you do them towards the end but aside from Trespasser they don't have that much of a main story impact so really you can technically choose to do them whenever you like.  Trespassre hoewver can't be done until you've completed the main game however as it's an epi8logue to the story. Jaws of Hakkon is basically a new zone kind of a mix between Hinterlansd and Crestwood really with a fwe more rifts to close and a story about your predecessor the last preson to hold the title Inquisitor. Descent is basically a dungeon crawler where you come up against one of DA's most famous groups of enemies the darkspawn. It's recommended and this is something i agree with that you wait until you get to level 20 as the enemies can be somewhat challenging compared with the main game.

JoH and Descent will unlock once you get to Skyhold in the game but while you can do them whenever you like it's best to wait until near the end of the story level 20 or above.

I like to do The Descent right before What Pride Has Wrought. What Pride Has Wrought is the start of the end sequence and I just find it comes a little too soon. The pacing is better if you have another mission between Wicked Eyes/Here Lies The Abyss and the end sequence, so I stick The Descent in there. As far as difficulty goes, I managed it at level 18 on normal with Trials on (Trials are additional gameplay challenge modes added by Trespasser). You should have at least 85 or so Power to spare before starting The Descent, since it has War Table missions that use up Power and these missions are well worth doing. Also, make sure none of your advisers are engaged with any War Table missions before you start The Descent, otherwise you'll have to wait before starting them in the DLC.

Jaws of Hakkon is good for having a breather between the end of the main game and the start of Trespasser. It also adds the feeling that some time has passed between the endgame and Trespasser.

Trespasser is post-endgame only if you didn't know, so obviously you have to do it last. BUT I would say install it as soon as you start playing, since it adds tons of new content to the main game (eg., it adds Trials, new weapons, new armour, new schematics and new War Table rewards).

Trespasser is an epilogue, so you can't play that until you beat the main game. The other 2 can be played at any point. Personally, I like playing them post-game as well - there's a time skip between the ending and Trespasser, and this way I know what my Inquisitor got up in that time. It also feels better for me having that time-out in actual gameplay time and not just a character in the game telling me "and now a bunch of time has passed".

One thing is for certain: f you have Trespasser, you must complete the other DLCs before you start it. Trespasser will completely cut you off from other areas of the map, including DLC areas, when you start the Trespasser DLC.

That being said, it is most ideal that you start the DLC somewhere around level 20+ level wise. The enemies will be extremely difficult if you start any earlier. But story wise you can essentially start anytime you want. I myself tend to complete them both before I face off with Corypheus, and on one play through I completed them before I even started "What Pride had Wrought".

The DLC don't have much of an outside-of-the-DLC-zone impact, so when you start them should be inconsequential.

yeah that's kind of what I do as well I tend to start that befoer doing What pride had wrought generally somewhere between opening the last 2 zones the Hissing Wastes and Emprise Du Lion and that What pride had Wrought mission I tend to start with JoH that way I can pick up the shield power befoer taking on the other harder missions in the DLC's. I pretty much mix that and alternate between Descent and JoH and the last few missions of the main game before wrapping the whole thing up with Trespasser

JoH, Descent, Trespasser.

All after the main story, in that order.

I haven't played the descent and the trespasser dlc's. Don't know when

The Jaws dlc can be done anytime after getting to Skyhold. Its recommended for a level 20 character.

Descent I'm not sure about, but I would suggest completing it before finishing the game.

Trespasser dlc is for post game only. It takes place 2 years after the cory is killed. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong about the time
