I want one of those Collector assault rifles that they issue to their Captains....takes shields down in 2 seconds   ...while the one I use takes an entire clip to waste 1 cannibal

Also, I wish the CollectDept's light-or heavy melee would have been the same as the collector's trooper's blades  ...those things cut deep.

also, to me, the Collectors aren't that bad   ......you know what I am talking about if you did an Insanity run on ME2  ...those possessed troopers seeker swarm were ridiculous

I did it but Insanity is nothing compared to MP Gold. BC on ME2 had time dilation which made things much easier. I have a video I recorded from my phone of my BCing geth, headshoting every single one of them with Claymore. It was that part from Tali's loyalty mission where the sun burns you. It's a very big areas with many and more geth. All of them fell like flies even on Insanity. Even the Geth Colossus couldn't stand BC + Claymore.

Similar thing on the Suicide mission.

I was told even before I started the MP: Insanity SP = Silver MP. And it's true.

That's very well described. It wasn't Xan's fault at all. I couldn't help much for many reasons, the main one being lack of experience, mainly against Collectors, and also my manifest still sucks quite a bit.

There was no way to get cover from the direction where the Scion was. He was at the entrance of the central area, coming down from the 2 exits from the indoors area. They had clear line of sight of the device. It was very close, though.

It was the second time I saw that guy this week.

@XAN: there are some things that only those to invest time studying will know. I wouldn't know about the collector protocol if I didn't ask what it was. This place here is a great source of information.

Even though the game was launched in 2012, this forum is still very active :)

You're on your first step to learn proper target priorization. The Scion is the sole reason of many groups failing against Collectors. Their AoE attacks can be devastating when the team is huddled together.

However it doesn't help much if you don't have the means to deal quickly with it. But in the meantime I suggest to try "dancing with the scion". Their slow speed means they are often paired or isolated (no troopers around). Trigger their melee so they stop firing and evade. Learn their attack pattern and try again to trigger their melee without getting slapped to death. This takes them effectively out of combat. With a melee Shadow it's incredibly fun and deadly for them, too.

I actively avoid Collectors on PS3, not because I don't want to fight them, just 'cos of the memory leak.  50-50 it'll lock my PS3 up even in Silver.

Unlike many players here, I found the difficulty jumps from Bronze to Silver and Silver to Gold very noticeable and very difficult to deal with.  I mention that here because I found that the jump from Bronze Collectors to Silver Collectors to be the hardest of the Silver jumps, but Silver Collectors to Gold Collectors less so.

Scions by themselves are not so much a problem. The real issue is the faction as a whole. Captains, troopers, abombs and swarms are an unthinkable pain. Sure scions and crabs are big bad meanies but they alone can be dealt with.

Sometimes depending on the team even silver collectors can prove hard.

Divide and conquer is all you need to do against them - it just doesn't work well during hacks. First the troopers then the big ones.

You forgetting new player have weaker weapons and consumables and can't just melt Scions just like that or have enough peircing and aiming skills to double hit (headshot/hump) melt them into instant submission. Pugs focusing on bosses is the real issue. That's when they get tunnel vision and the mooks start finishing them off instead while they forever chip on dmg soak bosses tunnel vision style.

I disagree, I find them very annoying on platinum (geth are worse though).

Reapers and Cerberus are easier than Collectors.

Agreed. Even though I've face this faction about a thousand times in thunderdomes and always found them to be quite pesky. Geth are indeed the worst. I've only completed 1 staggerdome solo. That says alot about how much I hate this faction.. Oh the stun lock please make it stop! :pinched:  :pinched:

If I know I'm going to fight Geth, I sometimes pick a more stagger resistant kit (Krogan, Batarian or Jug) or the ultimate stagger resistant kit (Destroyer with Devistator mode). Even if you're not stagger resistant, it helps if one or more on the team are. Because having all team member being constantly staggered is not that fun. Someone has to do the reviving, lol.

11 - When a Praetorian goes into flying mode, throw a power at it to proc it's immunity bubble so you can double-hit it with your AP Claymore

^ 1.5m isn't enough to double hit a crab through the bubble. You need a lot more than that.

This is why we needed the Krogan Infiltrator...unstaggerable stealth medic for Geth games.

2 seconds?  Maybe if you're using the Warlord with full Rage.  With an Asari Adept with R3 fitness, I have been dropped from full health/shield to dead in a single burst from a Possessed Captain when my shield and health gates are on recharge.... or when they should be active and LOLag.

I like the CAR. But then again, I tend to prefer accurate weapons.

^^ Getting that RoF boost with Marksman is really noticeable on the CAR, from what I've experienced.  Feels like a harder hitting GPR, damn near.

Yeah like Javelin with Drill 3.

Double hits are possible without the bubble though.

... but so true! can't remember my last Collector Gold / Plat Game without any issues.

Got the ULTIMATE PS3 STASIS Attack even on Bronze because of one Crab!

Even if you cannot double-hit the Praetorian while it is bubbled, at least it's not buttlazor-ing you. Praetorian can only use bubble while flying -- he cannot use his offensive powers while bubbled. So if you can make him bubble up then the entire party can unload weapons on him.

Screw weapons - go play cod and let the power people have some fun.

Its the same as Yours, players shields and health is just so much lower than enemies. One reave cast will take down full shielded juggy  :P

You forgot the other important info, Xan.

Memory Leak: Other Tips

  • Avoid HGhost and possibly HGiant, you will most likely freeze.
  • Avoid playing collectors on HGhost & HGiant period. If you get Collector on these maps leave immediately.
  • If you get Collectors on; Goddess, Jade, London, or most Hazard Maps you must to the collector protocol if  you don't want to reboot after or possibly crash mid game.
  • Play on the original 6 maps if you don't want to worry about rebooting after playing collectors, like forever. I did 8 game back to back of Collectors, no problems.
  • If you are host and you notice extreme symptoms of memory leak it is better to have the team wipe after you finish w10 objective then actually get to w11.  This ensures everyone gets there credits as extreme delays usually result in w11 never loading up and then the host and possibly everyone else lose their credits. See video.
  • If you have extreme symptoms of memory leak it is better to quit than try to fight it through especially if you are host as you are making the game unplayable for everyone else!
Memory Leak: Reboot Often

Turning your system completely off essentially forces the memory to be released, meaning that when you turn your PS3 back on, you will be starting with a clean slate. Reboot if you notice any extreme memory leak symptoms as they can carry over to other peoples game.

Memory Leak: Individual or Collective Problem?

In my experience memory leak is individual problem as one person out of a group may be experiencing it, however if you are host and you have memory leak it can carry over to everyone else in that game, and as a result everyone can suffer, thus becoming a collective problem. This is due that everything is based off the host.

So if you are not host the problem can be isolated to you alone, but if you are host it can become a collective problem. However I've had game where everyone but the host was suffering, so I honestly am not sure as it varies from game to game. The best thing is to resolve those symptoms by rebooting all together.

Actually, the PUG running to do the last device wasn't wrong. He probably didn't know that all your Cobras were used up. I tend to escort a device disabler or like to have an escort myself when I'm doing one on the 10th wave with a missile at the ready. But yeah, devices on wave 10 throw the chips into the air. Most of all, I hate Cerberus while doing this.

Haha...Collectors...they may do a number on the ps3, but they are my favorite faction. Collectors are tough but they don't feel cheap like the painfully annoying geth or cerb faction. If i wipe against collectors i don't feel too bad since it will be because they have done a good job of pummeling the team or I have just gotten a bit careless...in any case when I'm in a lobby that is set to unknown and when I load up into a map and hear that "buzzing" sound...a huge smile comes on my face!....geth or cerb?...i always say "aggghh it's gonna be one of THOSE games"... :pinched:
