^wow, we obviously play the Slayer much differently. Yes, if I was using a Piranha I would charge the 2 scions, shoot them at point blank range to prime them then hit them with PD or BC.

I don`t understand, why would I be trying to snipe anything from hard cover in the Dagger tower? That makes no sense to me, wrong kit. And if I was why wouldn't I use a kit set up for ranged attack and a longer range weapon? And the Hurricane isn't exactly a ranged beast btw

Edit: master reload cancelling? Not exactly difficult

Yeah I was thinking exactly the same.

Sniping from the dagger control room? With a Slayer!?!?

If it was for me, I'd revoke your Slayer license, Er Coots! :P

Well I play it with a Piranha and I play it super aggressively, but with a Talon or Hurricane I can sometimes go into hard cover and prime enemies reliably from distance and detonate with PD from distance.Sometimes you don't want to charge 2 Atlases and 2 turrets nearby with Centurions laying smoke everywhere. Sometimes you need to stick with the team. It's much easier to play, you do a lot more DPS and sometimes you don't even have to PD,or Charge, because you can shoot them just the same.

You are not going to Charge 2 Crabs and and 3 Scions who are clustered on the other end of Rio. Well, maybe you will, but you're gonna die, gel, die, get grabbed and stabbed. Sometimes you just can't charge if you have working brain cells  :P

Where's the Venom swag at, I don't see any in this thread. All I see is aclolyte, & I know its good but it's more boring than the reegar carbine. & the Venom has explosions, does the aclolyte have explosions? No it doesn't. The point is the Venom solves everything, & on the N7 slayer w/ 3 points into BS. You have a teammate who is sniping, & not helping on waves 3, 6, & 10? Go give them all the screen shake in the game.

By clustered I mean not on top of each other but just with a little bit of spacing.. Also, missiles are lame.

... Looks like I ain't got no working brain cells.

I always charge first. Then I ask (myself) questions later :P

Like any kit in this game, you need to recognize the opportunities to be aggressive, and when not to be. The Slayer walks a fine line.

If you really are as aggressive as you claim i don't understand how you could think the Piranha is a downgrade to anything. At point blank range there are few weapons in the game which compete with that (there's a reason GI / Piranha is an ultimate boss killer .. yes I know, increased accuracy) The only slight drawback is the increased CDs. However at the range a Slayer is at you can easily land all pellets anyways, just not all of them will land on the head.

When I play a Slayer, the only time i'm not right in the enemies grill is when there's a hack or escort. Who cares if I'm not killing stuff while that happens, those enemies will respawn anyways

Don't worry, they'll all hobble towards me in a nice clustered circle, then missile

GI not only has increased accuracy, but increased accuracy, ROF, 80% damage from cloak and a freaking 20% damage buff from the Proxy mine. It's not even in the same league.

Plus if you do U/U, you will have to choose between Incendiary and Disruptor ammo. Talon has 150% damage bonus vs shields/barriers and Piranha doesn't. So it'll take forever to take out either Atlases or Praetorians with it. If you have Disruptor ammo - Armor takes along time to kill, if you have Incendiary - shields/barriers take a lot longer to take down than with Talon/Hurricane.

As for RC, you need to think about it and pull it off consistently. So if you get staggered or press to early/too late you eff up your reload and have to try again. With the other 2 the reload is nearly instant and frees up your brain capacity to think/observe other things instead of getting frustrated while getting staggered by Scions/Primes.

Talon/Hurricane is much easier. That's just a plain fact.

^ Claiming that a Piranha on a Vanguard (especially one like the Slayer) is a downgrade in DPS to a Talon vs bosses is ridiculous. At point blank range (where the Slayer makes their living) the Piranha has some of the highest damage output in the game, against any defence.

Obviously any weapon needs armor mitigation to be effective vs bosses. But shields or barriers? a point blank range piranha will shred those

Edit- not that it really matters when playing the Slayer (for myself) as I do about %98 of all my damage with BC, PD and combo detonations

Do a test. Take out an Incendiary Talon and Incendiary Piranha vs Atlas. And also PD with Armor option. I can guarantee you the Talon will be done much earlier. Probably it would be done with 2 Atlases already.

P.S. Talon and PD has the perfect synchronization too. You can shoot-pd-shoot almost at the same time. Doesn't work like that with the Pir.

Had to give Deerber a Like for that Glengary Glenross pic..that Alec Baldwin speech is legendary...

I read somewhere earlier that the final BC to phase disruptor was a buff?...I didnt have the Slayer at the time of the final changes.. I do kinda wonder what it used to be like.......I do remember (is still happening) seeing all those Biotic Slash spammers...spamming even when nothing was around.

You have to remember that BC also got buffed. DAT 40% power damage bonus.

wow this kit is quite polemic :P

I always believe that shotguns suit more vanguards in general, but I've seen some Hurricanes melters a few times.

But I don't have a decent shotgun light enough to use, so I'm rocking pistol (Phalanx is what I have) to get 200% and power amp on it.

You remember correctly. Base PD uses 40% of barrier, and with the Efficient Blast evo it uses half that. But off-host, as we all know, BC normally doesn't give back 100% barrier, and often gives back nothing at all.

Volus! Your little helper.

Since the challenge system has trolled me into trying to complete every character (you and t-raks suffered the consequences last night when you were treated to my lamentable attempts to DrellGuard!) I have recently been playing a lot of Volus kits. and I pugged into a game with a Slayer, who soon caught on to the fact that we could have some fun by teaming his PD with my shield boost. The open hack on Giant was quite fun like that, nothing got near us at all.
