So In ME 2 and 3 Shep was decked out in this badass armor. But I was always like why? Jack is half naked and can take a hit just as good as me. What is the point of this armor? So yeah no skin tight leather and topless fighters if our main character is forced into a big bulky armor suit again.
Can we have a reason to wear armor this time?

I agree.
As pleasant as Miranda's rear end was, it did break my immersion at times.
Yeah, Miranda's rear end broke my immersion too, at times...

I would just like to point out that most characters who didn't wear armor were also biotics. the only two I can think of that didn't wear some type of armor or envirosuit were Kasumi and Mordin and it makes since that they don't wear armor. also Jack was sort of a berserker type individual, Miranda wasn't really a soldier (and she eventually was given armor) Thane and Kasumi had professions that placed more emphasis on agility then strength (dodging rather than enduring) and Mordin was a scientist spy/salarian. Jacob is really the only one that doesn't have an excuse but I'm ok with that because he was boring. Liara was at least as strong a biotic as elite asari commandos and most asari that wore armor had lighter armor. The ones that needed armor were the soldier types. they relied on combat training rather than cool gadgets or biotic powers.

And Biotic Shep wears big old armor.

Biotics don't allow you to survive toxic atmospheres or the vacuum of space.
The characters were made to look cool instead of practical (like in ME1), so the last remnants of science went out the airlock starting in ME2.
Think about it. Even as a biotic, wouldn't you want to wear the best armor available to you? With a personal shield and a tank of air? Why ignore that and run around half naked instead? Jack looked up evacuation procedures the moment she got on board the Normandy, she's all about survival. There is no reason whatsoever why she'd run around naked in combat if she could wear armor instead.

Both those things are good things.

I disagree strongly. The games take themselves too seriously for that. If you want rule of cool instead of realism, then you can play Saint's Row 3 and 4. They make it work. Mass Effect though just looks stupid when you find solid mercury on a warm planet or when people walk around half naked in acid fog.

That's because they didn't show the skin dissolving and burning, revealing the bloody muscles below it as the character died in agony.
It's not like the cute little breather mask would have kept them alive anyway... there's no air tank connected to it.

But neither of those things happen in the game. So that makes it canon.

And Biotic Shep wears big old armor.
Shepard was also a soldier. If you read my post, I mentioned the only other humanoid biotic that had a soldier background was Jacob. I even say that it doesn't make any sense. All the other humanoids without "armor" have backgrounds that support their desire to not have armor.

Skin suits are the sci-fi genre and so is the battle armour. Jack is a biotic and has personal barrier/shields. Whereas the poor soldier class has nothing but her skin, so the armour+tech is necessary to save her azz.

So rather than asking for a reason to wear armour, maybe the question should be 'can everyone actually dress themselves like they plan or surviving'?

The companions were all superheroes without the masks. Sure, every superhero should really only wear the the items that are going to give them the best protection, but then, where is their identity?
In the same way they wear their underwear on their trousers, they can wear their underwear on a suit of power armor.

There is plenty of great fiction that takes itself seriously and pretty much completely ignores science or facts. e.g. Game of Thrones. Your vision for the game is different to that of the designers/creators, that' cool; but most of the fanbase (market) doesn't care about this (or care enough about it) for BioWare to be compelled to change the direction of the game.
