Some new information regarding the release. Mass Effect Andromeda will release this fiscal year, which runs until April 2017. I am guessing March as a release date for it.

I'd be shocked if it releases at any time in 2016. We're almost two months into the year it originally was supposed to release on, with no information on the game other than where it is set.

So? The same approach worked well for other established franchises in the past.

We knew nothing about Fallout 4 or the latest NfS until last E3. There will be a new Battlefield game this year and we don't know anything about it yet.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you're expecting a Holiday 2016 release.

What other companies do isn't really relevant when discussing Bioware. Bioware has rarely met an initial projected release date. It also isn't usual for them to be so tight-lipped about a project that is supposedly releasing in less than a year. That's just now how they've rolled in the past. Finally, the firing or resignation of a lead writer just months after being hired may point to problems in development and possible rewrites.

All the signs are pointing to 2017.

Bethesda is quite unique in this regard, they usually don't announce a game until it is almost finished or in Fallout 4's case finished.

Called it.

It's not coming this year. It was never coming 2016. BioWare rarely, if ever, meets initially projected release windows. My bet is, and has always been, March 2017.

See Rise of the Tomb Raider. Basically it has a very similar announcement and release date as MEA. By this time last year we knew even less about it than we know about MEA, and it was released on time (Q4 2015).

Also ME2 wasn't dealyed.

Between this two examples it's enough to "prove" MEA doesn't need to be delayed. Of course, it might be. Or it might not.

Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure ME2 was delayed, as it was initially advertised as a late 2009 release.

Yeah. That fiscal report screams a 2017 release. If it needs to be delayed we should all be happy. I dont want a janky game.

Nope, ME2 released date was always early 2010.

I'm not worried. I'll just do other things to pass the time until the game is released. No big deal

I'm a bit surprised they don't try to meet the November holiday deadline. Not that I care since waiting for a few months mean more development time. It seems like a perfect year with weak competition and holiday sales. Maybe EA actually cares?

Unique?

EA have been doing it for years for their sport and Battlefield franchises.

When ME3 was delayed, it's because they were SO rushed, and they couldn't put out a crap game.

I'm still hoping for the November or December release, with Titanfall in September or October. Hence the word hope. It's not based in fact. I really, really hope it's not in 2017, but hey. What can I do about it.

As long as they do a good job on the game I think it will be ok for them to delay it a couple of months. But if they delay it to 2017 and the game still blows I would be very disappointed, if they game is gonna suck no matter what then they should release it early imo.

I was 25 when ME3 came out.

I'll be 30 when MEA comes out.

I'll just leave this here.

I still say that one day is too long for a publisher to be onstage, so I think that they are just gonna be up there flooding us with information at EA's press conference (EA Play, I think?) this year.  Not only with this game, but with the new IP as well.  BioWare is a rock star of EA, so I expect them to be front and center of their push.

No you did not.

All the multiple articles on this state that it will be released late in the next fiscal year. Ok. EA's fiscal year runs April to April. All this means is that it can be released anywhere from next November to April 2017.  I am not saying it won't be released in March, 2017. That's plausible. However there is a 5 month lee-way in there and still room for a "Hey gang, guess what? We wanted to release it by April, 2017 but we really want to tweak it so we're delaying another four months to get things right."

All we know for certain is it is planned for release sometime between this fall and early 2017. We really won't know anything firmer until this summer.

With top talent leaving Bio, development time may not be what you think. Re-writes prolongs the game and possibly creates a fractured story. Voice acting may be redone, depending on where in the story the re-write occurred.

Also, they may have reconsidered the focus on  exploration and added meaningful exploration quests that were missing from the original game design. Perhaps, Bio decided to motion capture proper idle animation, male/female walking running movement... etc, play mechanics, input control, HUD, inventory mngt... et al,... even the possibility of reworking the SP-to-MP hybrid loot concept.

DA:I was delayed but launched with horrible bugs.... good thing I learned my lesson with DA:I. I'll play ME:A when it's on sale and after a patch or two. I have other games to keep me busy and 2016 is coming out with a plethora of interesting ones. No ME:A withdrawal symptoms, here.

Personally, I want to buy the game at full price to support the developers, although I would be more inclined to support DA and Bethesda games more than ME since they have disappointed me greatly, so I may probably buy the game on sales as well depending on how they handle the game, so I understand.

I'm a bit skeptical and the delay if it's not for development time, but adding more meaningful quests are always good. Despite how much I enjoy Fallout 4, there are not a lot of quests in the game for an open world game. Skyrim overwhelms me with quests. At the same time, they may learn from DAI on how NOT to handle open world where everyone were stuck in one place and was asked to run way across the map to inflate the game time just to fetch something. Most of the quests also were pretty uninspiring. I hope the game will prove me wrong though. I'm one of the few people who was glad with all the changes in the writing team, maybe they could bring some fresh air to the series.

Well, of course I wasn't the first to make that prediction! But the general assumption was that the game is coming late 2016 because the E3 teaser advertised as much. I personally wasn't aware of EA's fiscal year schedule until I saw this report.

I personally would want them to release in November, it seems like the best time for them to get a successful reception and sales. If it is to add content then it's never hurt to be delayed to be honest.
