I think it will be a clean break, but I still think their best option for handling the ending of ME3 is to ignore it. Doing that while still being lore friendly would be to have the departure to Andromeda happen before the ending of ME3 chronologically. This way everyone who makes the trip to the new galaxy will be ignorant of how the war against the Reapers ended up. This allows the new citizens of Andromeda only speculation, and no commitment on the part of Bioware to a particular canon. Meanwhile you, the player, can think: "I know what really happened because I made the decision".
No ties to ME3 storyline. Want a real reboot.

I hate that fraking mod with a passion. That mod is proof why fans shouldn't be developers. (referring to the content of the mod not the quality of the work behind it just to be clear.) Boo hoo a mature title that didn't end with rainbows and unicorns. I would argue that if anything the mass effect series needed more tragedy and fewer "I win" button results that save everyone. Not a single severing member of your crew can die post ME2 prologue unless you take deliberate "fail" results and people think the game isn't happy enough?
i dont mind sad endings.. pay it forward is one of my all time favorite films and the ending to that is far.. far from rainbows and unicorns..
what i hated about ME3 was 1. God Child.. and 2. that the ending came down to a red/green/blue choice and pretty much everything you did up to that point in the trilogy meant NOTHING.

This game is a reboot, a clean slate. BioWare is so scared by ME3's ending that they had to run away to an entirely new galaxy. I doubt this game will even have a "Keep" equivalent to import any decisions and any references to the previous trilogy will be almost nonexistent.

Its not a reboot, a reboot would involve retelling the trilogy in a different manner so this game is by no means reboot.

I don't literally mean a "reboot" such as scrapping what has been done, rather I'm articulating the phrase how the OP is using it. What he is suggesting is a fresh start with no connection to the previous trilogy, which is exactly what Andromeda seems to be doing. In that sense, it is a reboot, because what happened in ME1-3 won't matter and has no impact on the game. It can also be considered a reboot in the sense that BioWare wants to broaden Mass Effect's appeal to more gamers, as it largely only sold well on the Xbox 360 and PC, but not PS3. This was due to the fact Mass Effect was originally a Xbox exclusive and people don't like jumping into games that are sequels.

They can't ignore the ME3 endings.. not forever. Or Bioware would by forced to freeze the entire milky way for all coming ME games that may come out in the future. It would also destroy any artistical integrety in there work.
They did that with the original ending according to fans but preserved it according to the press, then undid it with Extended Cut according to fans and did it according to the press and then Leviathan came out and they re-did it.

doubt bc they didnt announce it, remember the keep from DA was release 3 months early to test it.
I think like most theories the game will happen or at least the beginning of the game between 2 and 3.
The best they can do with the endings is to chose the Red one, and make new lore how the humanity with the help of all the alien race develop a new type of engine that allow they to travel between systems. So at least future game for ME can be set on the milky way again.
For me Green and Blue make the most issue to keep the lore. One give a fully army of reaper under the control of "Shepard" and the other everyone become a hybrid.

You also forget the Keep was announced much earlier than it began testing. We've heard nothing of an equivalent system for MEA, which makes its inclusion less and less likely as time passes.
There really is no theory here. We almost have indisputable evidence that the ARK launches at the beginning of ME3. The reason we know this is because the asari councilor makes likely references to the ARK in passing to Shepard.
