BioWare Points.
Release Day DLC.
Full price DLC even after the game's price was reduced to 5 bucks.
Ingame stores designed to lure people into micro transactions.
But hey, the trailers are usually awesome. I actually saved the SW:TOR cinematic trailers because those are seriously good. DA2 trailer was epic, too.
Hey, at least its not Paradox's "African Portrait Pack" type bullshit

BioWare loves paying customers and adoring worshippers. A fan who dares to say something like, "I liked your game but the ending was disappointing and not at all what you implied we'd get" is being shouted down, ridiculed and then ignored. BioWare has allergic reactions to critique.
Yes, that's precisely how things happen here and isn't a biased misrepresentation of events in the least.

They love their fans? You can say that with a straight face, here? In this forum aka The Cave Of The Lost, Forgotten and Forsaken? Hah.
BioWare loves paying customers and adoring worshippers. A fan who dares to say something like, "I liked your game but the ending was disappointing and not at all what you implied we'd get" is being shouted down, ridiculed and then ignored. BioWare has allergic reactions to critique.
But since they care about dazzling the naive with flashy trailers to create hype (and eventually revenue) for their (lately mediocre) games, we can probably expect a second trailer that mentions the story and/or perhaps tells us a little about our character. A few minutes of (alpha) gameplay footage will follow. Of course, this might show things again that won't actually be in the game because they ran into hardware limitations or time constraints.
Well, they let you speak out like this.
Doesn't that more or less counter the belief that they are shouting you down or ridiculing you by saying such things in their forums? Doesn't that also preclude everyone who is critical, both normally or overly, at this point?
I mean, it is possible they don't care about what people generally think because it is impossible to make everyone happy, but at the same time, considering how much they tend to over-correct mistakes based on fan feedback in the past, or use patches and quick DLC bits to enhance games in post-launch support (Inquisition comes to mind, they more or less rectified a ton of complaints in the long run that way), I always find the claim of BioWare not caring about their fans to be a hollow one.
Hollow and ill-informed, all things considered. Developers, sometimes to their detriment, do give a damn. Maybe more than they should because it gets in the way of making a good game. To cherry pick stuff that was never going to be changed in the first place (and why should it, is the question) is kind of missing the point of critique in this case, because what can we measure such a moment to? Will the comparison of Andomeda's ending be to Mass Effect 3's ending? Is that even fair to do? There is no way to really measure feedback on something like that until seeing it, although I suspect it may not matter in the end.
One thing we can more or less deduce that they are playing Andromeda close to the chest because of those "promises unkept" by the hype machine in Mass Effect 3. Likely also due to the leaked alpha footage from Inquisition as well.
Considering EA is going to be hosting that EA Play event instead of going to E3 (so this thread itself is a lie) I would bet a playable demo or video of some kind will be present at the event, so people might get a chance to play a piece of the game early.
Truth be told, I don't know what to think at this stage, but I do know that details won't stay locked forever. I would expect gradual information being released, much like Inquisition as we get closer to the launch, followed by videos from BioWare itself self-promoting or showcasing voice actors.

Guys, BioWare hasn't cared about this forum in years. It's just a containment unit now, nothing else. It's questionable if they even read here because they sure as hell aren't posting anymore.

It's because it's a whole new generation of people over there.

I'm holding out for the highly unlikely "Having come to our senses, we are now cancelling Mass Effect: Andromeda as a title, reusing its assets in a new Mass Effect game set in the Milky Way after the events in ME3. We are also announcing the development an Extended Extended Cut for Mass Effect 3 which will actually retcon away our awful endings and replace them with something that won't destroy the galaxy and poison the franchise forever."

Perhaps, but based on the behavior of posters here, I don't blame them one little bit.

I was on the old forum. Much as I lament its dissolution, I certainly don't blame them. People were, and still are, being complete jerks to the devs. It's like visiting someone's place and shitting on the coffee table because you don't like the decor.

That's the problem. The moderation here sucks. The BioMods seem to have strict rules, including one about no communication whatsoever... which means the whole system doesn't work.
Instead of abandoning the entire forum when a few people got aggressive, they should have removed those trolls and kept on posting here. It's not like a majority was that bad, it was maybe 2%. But no, this forum here is "toxic" and everyone who doesn't like the games 100% is just as bad as the trolls who threatened the devs. Not even much hyperbole... I got banned for "death threats" when all I said was that I'm upset about not finding the entire story in the game because BioWare wants to sell novels, too.
BioWare avoids their own forum in favor of Facebook and Reddit. Let's be honest, does that feel right to anyone?
There isn't even a proper community manager anymore, just someone who keeps an eye on the blog and twitter. I mean, they post stuff on their blog but not in the forum. Not even a link. That's pathetic.
The power to change things rests exclusively with BioWare. It's up to them to employ actual moderators, to organize things and to have a community manager go between fans and devs. No one demands that the devs show up here, if they do then that's a bonus. But there is no feedback here, so people get frustrated and lash out. Who enjoys talking to a wall?
Since BioWare isn't changing anything, it's more than likely that they have given up on this forum. Its only worth to them is as a containment unit for all the malcontents.

I get the feeling that Bioware would rather do without the official forums, but doesn't completely nuke them for fear of alienating the fans who do post or lurk here. So instead the BSN just sort of exists in a state of benign neglect, with Bioware mostly pretending it doesn't exist and taking official announcements exclusively to Twitter or Facebook, usually without a repost or a link here until a fan comes along to do it.
Compare Bioware's official forums to CD Projekt Red's, where official company announcements are still made and where employees of the company still post occasionally.
It has mostly been that way since the ME3 ending controversy.

I don't judge them for "abandoning" the forums. I see a lot of people here talking **** about a game that they didn't seen anything about yet.

electronic Arts has announced EA Play, a live event in Los Angeles and London the week of E3. Against years of tradition, Electronic Arts will not have a traditional booth at E3, instead allowing fans to play upcoming games at the limited, free event from June 12-14.
EA Chief Marketing Officer Chris Bruzzo told IGN that EA’s annual press conference, which will happen on Sunday, June 12, will be "similar [to last year’s press conference] in that it’s very much about the games… It’s also going to include competitions, special guest appearances, musical performances, and other cool stuff that makes it an event."
I asked for additional details on the competitive element, wondering if it relates to Peter Moore’s new esports endeavor. "It’s one of the key things we’re bringing to the experience this year," was all Bruzzo added.
After the press conference ends, "those who are in attendance will be able to turn and have hands-on experiences with our games."
n addition, Bruzzo said, "We will be broadcasting from the event over the three days of the event on EA channels, but we’re going to have spaces where content creators can walk up and stream right to their own channels." EA intends to have developer panels, daily streams, and other ongoing events during EA Play.
On Monday, June 13, EA Play will be open to a limited number of the public, who can attend by redeeming tickets for the event at no cost. More information is available on the official EA Play site.
E3 begins June 14.

Bioware would have their fanbased hyped to the extreme and we would be let down in the end. They won't be able to pull a Witcher 3, ie have marketing, trailers, gameplay shown 2 years prior to release and still manage to blow everyone's expectations. Bioware has everything to lose by giving us early glimpses. The smart thing to do is be like Bethasda and start marketing, trailers, gameplay footage, and promotions five months before release.

In all seriousness, why the negative reaction? They'll still be showing stuff at their convention that is taking place the same time E3 is. If anything, them having their own means them showing MEA stuff is more likely.

I'm all for showing stuff, who wouldn't be? However, no more teasers. At the least, give us something meaty.

I agree with that. I think Bioware needs to start showing meatier content to attract and keep attention on the game.
