I believe it is a troll attempt. A very successful one, judging by the replies.
I'm just saying, people on here talk about "SJW madness" all the time. But if this is the kind of evidence they're using, then I don't think they're concerned about making sure the examples they hold up are earnest.
I really don't want to go anywhere near the thread. In fact, I'm trying to stay away from most of the forum for a while, just coming to this group and the Dorian thread. After a night of continually refreshing the Patrick Weekes interview thread, I realized I was having issues and regretted having participated at all -- at least I had my revelatory moments about the Iron Bull/Krem stuff, which I was most pleased with.
I understand that it's a troll bait thread. That said, it seems to me like the only thing lacking for such a PC would be the dialogue options to legitimize it. I really don't see them doing that anytime soon. I don't think there is any way that they can get it right.
I have actually seen remarks from players who RP that their character is trans, so it's not like it isn't something that wouldn't be utilized.
The best, first place that Bioware can start would be in having a trans LI and seeing how they handle it. I'm really rooting for Mae in DA4. We got a small peek at her hubby, Thorold, in the comic, and she seems to really miss him still. Aside from the trans element, it would be nice to have a LI who had a former spouse and makes the PC aware of it, making no bones that they still love him/her, but still has room for new love**. Not something tragic like Zevran's Rina, but a normal sort of loss and natural coping that comes with it.
** With this sort of thing I'm reminded of the US VP Joe Biden and his occasional remarks about his dead wife (and daughter). The deaths affected him deeply, and still affect him, but he was able to find a new, second love to help him deal with it, and I think it's wonderful.
I'm going with stupid. After Quarian Master Race started writing these obvious posts midway through, there is no way intelligent people would still keep making those "OMG Tumblr is destroying BW" posts.
While I don't agree with that sentiment, one can't deny the influence of social media sites like Tumblr, and their toxicity. I've actually attempted to welcome people into the friendly Dorian thread who were concerned about this sort of thing. I don't say that they have an influence on Bioware, but they do have an influence on other fans, and there are elements on there that make the entire DA fandom look very bad. And honestly, the sheer venom with which some of those users attack some people is horrendous.
Randomly, daveliam, someone in the Dorian thread responded to a two-year-old post of yours. XD
