Dear Sweet, Wonderful, Talented, Amazing Developers of the Dragon Age Franchise,

For us arachnophobes who are willing to compromise.

It is still an arachnid, but the claws and tail break up the spider look perfectly.

Pretty Please.

I do have to admit that giving the spiders elongated and/or onion butts does help a little, but the onion butts are still creepy from the front.

This is why I prefer a mage... I am allowed to stand waaaaaay back.  But I still tend to fight them while focusing my gaze primarily on the proximity map in the lower left corner while waiting for all the red dots to disappear.

We won't even discuss the thing at the end of the Fade.  As if the plethora of small spiders throughout the Fade wasn't bad enough.  That developer should be flogged.

I support scorpions!

Partly because I think they're cool, and also because my girlfriend is arachnophobic. I've also seen quite a few threads where people ask where spiders are in the game to avoid them, and have a lot of trouble dealing with the sequences they can't avoid, so it seems like this is not an insignificant problem. This would be a win-win!

^ I don't care one way or the other about this issue, but I love your image edit. XD

Also, I urge PC players to check out the Invisible Spiders mod. It even works on our gargantuan friend in the Fade.

Haha, thank you!  :D

That's an interesting idea for a mod, too. Yay for creative people!

What's this? Another arachnophobe?

I won't lie. I had to go full on Krogan to pass my first encounters with spiders in Origins. That, and TacCam. Lots of TacCam in the Deep Roads (I'm more used to leading from the front, so I mostly went for action cam + pause + ordering that way).

It got easier towards the two thousand kills mark...

...thank you, "Pox" Miles, nicknamed after a disease that slaughters Aliens by the dozens, your opinion (and contribution to the XCOM Project) is greatly valued...

(And agreed with.)

Radscorpions in Fallout are actually more of a problem to me than Spiders in DA.

See... now here's the problem.

Just because a person owns a car I do not expect them to also be a mechanic.  I have noticed lately that people assume that since one has a computer, one should know everything about them.  I wouldn't have the first inkling of how to use this Invisible Spiders mod you have recommended although it certainly sounds appealing.

When I bought my first cell phone, which to me absolutely resembled a Star Trek Communicator, my friend had to walk me through its functions.  Which he did.  After the third time I finally had to beg him to speak slower, use smaller words and that I was interested only in how to make a call and receive a call.

I am the very definition of a technotard.

They could even work it into the story...

I can see it now...

The scorpions could be large. red and glowing... from the red lyrium you see... It could drop a leather that we could make armor and weapons from which would also be red and glowing.  It could be said that they were mutations which unbeknownst til now lived in the deep roads but spewed forth when there was a cave in which left an opening exposed to the world above.

Then...

It could be worked in that their favorite meal is spiders and that is how we can eliminate spiders and introduce scorpions.

Yes?

Anyone?

Alright... it wasn't the best of ideas but I'm still working on my second cup of coffee.  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Scorpions? Here you go. Excellent

Spoiler

I wouldn't have a problem with having scorpions in the next game. While we're at it. lets add snakes, giant ants and how about giant c**kroaches.

Every enemy in the next DA game will be a spider, your companions will be spiders, and the protagonist will drive a spider.

I wouldn't mind any one of those... or rats... maybe even frogs...

Yes, I said frogs.  Don't laugh.  Way back in the day there was a horror movie called exactly that, "Frogs."  It starred Ray Miland.  So apparently frogs are considered scary... somewhere... to... someone.

"Night of the Lepus" was about giant rabbits.  And it too was a horror movie.  I kid you not.  Big furry rabbits, not a thought that exactly instills fear, but someone still made a movie.

So... I would also be okay with man-eating rabbits.

I only posted it for the people who didn't know about its existence.

There are guides online, but if you have any specific questions I'm happy to answer them via PM. Always delighted to get someone new into modding.

That just about decribes how I do it now without the Invisible Spiders mod.  I quick casting when I don't hear anyone else fighting.  Then I know it's safe.  But I still do not really peek at the screen until I have given the game enough time for the bodies to disappear.  Then I loot.  I hate Snowball.

Giant scorpions might be nice, but I'd like to fight a giant (at least eight meters long) centipede.

Also maybe a house-sized carnivorous weta.

I don't mind spiders. I never even kill one in real life; I just take them outside the house or into my greenhouse in a cup etc. and let them go (we only have harmless ones here, thank god). But my sister can't stand them, so I can understand why some would like to see them changed/removed.

The thing in the end of the fade... to me it looks more like a giant, mutated sea crab, than a spider.

Wow, just change "sister" to "girlfriend" and I could have written that myself, ha

We actually have this running joke in the family about my sister and Londo Mollari from Babylon 5. Even after all these years, it still makes all of us laugh (even her) because it's so spot on. :D
