On my second playthrough, I've added all the DLC.  I did Legacy just before the end of Act 2.  Having played Inquisition first, it kind of felt like I was going through the first three episodes of Star Wars:  you know the end result will have some very bad repercussions!  That said, the actions of Hawke and company make sense given how little they know about the nature of Cory.

Now in Act 3, I doing Mark of the Assassin and I can't help but think:  Does this story make sense?  Given that you became "The Champion of Kirkwall" by defeating the Qunari, does it make sense that a Qunari bard like Talis would seek your help in stopping a Qunari double agent?  Even crazier, you first go to Orlais after a request from Talis where you know she's leaving out important details.  You then find out she's a Qunari after being captured in Chateau Haim.  Once you escape -- with her help -- she asks you again to help her and she still won't completely level with you.  Is Hawke supposed to be played as dumb or gullible?  (Of couse, you have to decide in favor of Talis to get full use of the DLC.)

This of course mirrors what happens with Anders.  On my first playthrough, I did help him collect the ingredients for  a bomb which he said was supposed to be for a potion that would free him from Justice.  When he asks my Hawke to distract the Grand Cleric while he does something he refuses to tell me about, she refused.  I thought this part of the main story was flawed.  Even though you consider Anders your friend, you know he's unstable, so it doesn't make sense to blindly follow him anywhere.

Not that it is needed, but the Tallis vid series may help detail some of the desired answers. These are available on YT, or also are available on disk.

The Tallis vid series?  I did find a vid where the actress who plays Tallis "played with herself."  Was there an anime movie as there was with Cassandra?  What was the title?

That said, it still seems strange where, for story progression, you have Hawke frequently agreeing to do things without knowing the details and asking the obvious questions.

It's why I generally always skip that DLC.

The story was far too weird and awkward and obviously catered around Talis O'day being a horrible self insert. I hated how my Hawke looked during it and there just never felt like any way to fix it so after a while I just stopped bothering.

This particular DLC was basically "The Tallis Story With Special Guest Star: Hawke"

That said, though, it would make sense for a Qunari agent to recruit Hawke, because the Arishok overstepped his authority in trying to conquer Kirkwall, and proved to be an embarrassment to the Qun.  Hawke did the Qunari a favor as much as Kirkwall.

It is unfortunate that you are railroaded into helping her even after finding out the truth though.

Yeah, it feels forced.  I watched the Youtube show, it's laughably terrible with many inaccurate bits of lore.  The whole DLC is based around 'oh look, we have a Youtuber who wants to work with us guys!' and it suffers because of it.

I would like an option at the beginning, when you're in Hightown, to tell her to shove off.  But you can't, you HAVE to go.  So my good girl Hawke went with her only to refuse to help once she knew the details.  She told her to go away the whole of the rest of the DLC and they parted on bad terms.

It's contrived, the whole thing, so I guess you either go with it or don't play at all.  Tallis is a BioWare teacher's pet, you can't even murderknife her (oh if only), and the DLC seems to be marketed at folks who want the Qunari to be the good guys.

Qunari are NOT good guys.  Their world is a very bad one, anyone who knows anything of the lore should know that so why shove it down our throats?

Still, there are fun sneaky elements and puzzles, and a Krogan head on the wall.  Maybe just play it when you're knackered and not paying too much attention to any of it.  :P

Mind you, to play devil's advocate, you could ask yourself why go back to see Merrill?  Why ask a naive blood mage to help you?  Why ask a possessed Warden to help?  Why assume you have any right to stick your nose in with the Arishok?  Why think you, and you alone, have the right to dictate who rules Orlais?  Why let a Qunari merc work for you if you're a mage?  Why let Wrex, a freaking bounty hunter, on the Normandy?  Why agree to work with Cerberus, especially if you have the Sole Survivor history?  You should be wriggling through the air lock and making your escape....

The answer is, of course, 'because video games'.  Stuff that doesn't make sense happens alllll the time.

The series is entitled Redemption, and thought it was better than some A list films like D&D: The Movie, Supergirl, Red Sonja, etc:

Personally have a lot of admiration and respect for Ms Day; her work ethic is certainly earned it. And I prefer MotA to some other DLC; Bioware DLC included. The Boss fight is certainly better than the Arishok duel, Harvester, and Rock Wraith encounters, IMO.

Wait, you think it's better than some A-list movies? Really? Why? I'm not being argumentative, I'm genuinely interested in someone else's opinion on it. I liked the last episode but the others had me cringing something awful.

I would suggest watching it simply because it can be considered canon as Tallis actually appears in the game. But it's not required to understand the events of the DLC, rather Tallis's motivation to prove herself and so forth.

That said, I haven't watched beyond episode 2. I originally watched them when they were released, and waiting around for the next installment "because, Dragon Age" wasn't really great incentive for me, so I just stopped altogether. I prefer DA as presented in the games, and this high quality LARPing just doesn't do it for me. I'd say it's good for what it is, though. I'd actually say the same of the Dawn of the Seeker anime movie. It's good for what it is, and gives some good (canon) background on Cassandra, but in the end, I'm not that interested. Oddly, this doesn't apply to the comic releases, but I suppose that is likely because I can get through them very quickly and don't have to worry about forcing myself to sit through something.

Well, the films I listed are amongst the worst and/ or most disappointing flics I have seen. And while Redemption is not a A list production, it is far more entertaining to me than much of the like fare available.

Plus, as mentioned, I admire Felecia Day; her work, talent (eg; she is also a classical violinist), time for charity, and more. See this older vid she made for Nerd HQ that includes some discussion of Redemption:

Precisely!  After escaping the castle, you're given the choice to follow Tallis or go your separate way.  I chose to go my separate way only to find myself fighting the Orlesians again and doing Tallis' dirty work!  When I get back to Inquisition, I'm going to have to quiz Cassandra on why she originally wanted Hawke to lead the Inquisition!

I must say, I do find Felicia Day a hoot!  But still, agreeing to go on a quest in a foreign land where you don't even know the details of what you're doing doesn't make sense.  As a Fereldan, Hawke may not particularly like the Orlesians, but after battling the Qunari in Kirkwall, helping a Ben Hasarath protect a network of Qunari spies doesn't make sense!  I would think this would make Hawke a fugitive on the run even before the final confrontation with Meredith.

Granted, the choice of companions always seems to be questionable.  In Origins, why would you want to take in a mass murderer like Sten?  Or the Crow who tried to kill you like Zevran?  At least the other companions are somewhat more reasonable, particularly given the precarious situation the last two Wardens find themselves in after Ostagar.  In DA2, your mage situation is ridiculously bad.  You have Merrill, the Blood Mage, or Anders, the abomination.  Currently in my second run-through, I sent Anders packing after he almost killed the mage we saved from Ser Alric.  That leaves my rogue Hawke no choice but to stay on good terms with Merrill despite objections to blood magic and Merrill's dealing with demons.  Oh well...

On a more positive note, so far the boss fight with the "Sky Horror" is one of the toughest I've had in DA2.  I can't imagine doing that (or the Cory boss fight in Legacy) on Nightmare.

And thanks, Elhanan, for the links to Redemption.  I'll definitely give it a look.  Felicia Day is certainly an engaging performer (she's okay for a Qunari. ;)).
