I've played the main campaign near launch. I wanna restart my elfquisitor and finally do a qunari playthrough now that hair mods exist, lol.

From what I understand Trespasser adds a lot to the story, do any of the others?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE. :)

I haven't played descent and trespasser. I will when I get a ps4.

I would say trespasser is a must have.

Trespasser is a must-have, but you can skip Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent without missing out on much, at least on much that's related to DA:I's main plot and its characters. I thought Jaws of Hakkon was a decent DLC, if a bit overpriced though, so if you're going to get two, I'd recommend that and Trespasser. I didn't like The Descent very much, for quite a few reasons.

I enjoyed all three for different reasons, but all in all only Trespasser is really "essential". ;-)

I would play The Descent to get some interesting revelations about dwarves. Also, to kill a bunch of ****** darkspawn.

Trespasser for main story

Jaws of Hakkon for the history

The Descent for the new lore

I would say that only trespasser is "essential" but if you are fond of DA world all of them are worth it

Trespasser is the epilogue to the game, so this is essential, yes.

Descent is in the Deep Roads and has dwarfy stuff, while Jaws of Hakkon has interesting bits about the Avvar, Tevinter, and the first Inquisition. I don't consider these other DLC essential in that they don't contribute to the main game, but they do add a lot of fun lore bits. JoH specifically has a gigantic, new, beautiful, lovingly crafted area to explore; I would recommend it on that alone.

Trespasser is essential. I'd say it's slightly more key than Awakening or Legacy were for their respective games. Plus it brings new combat abilities and trials, so there's something for everyone.

Descent is also important. Probably a little less important than Legacy, but more important than Mark of the Assassin. It introduces a few worldbuilding threads that are touched on in Trespasser, so I'd recommend playing Descent before a first run on Trespasser.

For Jaws of Hakkon, the closest analogy I can think of is Golems of Amgarrak. It brings some new tough combat, more open world exploration (including some interesting codices that may develop into something more later) and a nice, self-contained story. Also more info on the Avvar, which is great to have.

If budget is a concern, my priority ranking would be: Trespasser, Descent, Jaws of Hakkon. But otherwise, all are quite good.

This. Those item and store DLCs are just rip offs that try and take your money on something that should have came with the game.

While I realize it is up to interpretation, Dragon Age Inquisition was dominantly based on the rise of the Inquisition and the defeat of Corypheus. Anything after the defeat of the Final Battle (aka defeating the big bad corypheus) was bound to be optional content that was by no means necessary.

The DLCs are exactly what they should be, optional paid-for content that has the potential to add to the base game.

I agree that Trespasser is the only one that is essential, for either story or for game mechanics.

That said, if you also want to do Descent, I recommend doing JoH first. For game mechanics, not for story. Trying not to spoil, but they added a new ability in JoH that you will really, really want in Descent. ;)

Descent is probably essential for future story directions.  It's kind of got that 'Legacy' feel to it, like you know this stuff is going to be pretty important at some point.

Trespasser is 100% essential.  It directly forwards the narrative from the end of the base game.

I think one would take or leave Jaws of Hakkon, though I would never part with it, but if you care at all about fighting darkspawn, The Descent is the only one that gives you the full gamut of the types that exist in the Deep Roads, not to mention that you actually get proper Deep Roads this time, along with some important dwarfy stuff.

Trespasser is a must, it sets up the next game. I didn't bother with the other two since they're not the kind of thing I look for in a game/DLC.

Like everybody has said the only essential one is Trespasser but all 3 are great to play so I'd recommend getting all 3 but only Trespasser effects the main story due to it essentially being like an epilogue.

All 3 are great and worth the price of admission. Especially now that they can be purchased together with the game of the year edition which seems to be on sale all the time. I paid full price for all of it and don't feel the least bit slighted. I ran 5 characters through all the DLC and I will be going back for more sometime.

If you only had money for one of them I would get Tresspasser.

Tresspasser has become my favorite DLC of all time.

Armor from Trespasser and a staff from the Descent saved my heiney when I did my Nightmare playthrough. So the loot is top notch. (The Golden Nug is heaven sent.)

But Trespasser is absolutely essential. I thought it was a masterpiece, and I played through it with my multiple Inquisitors, wheras I only took one Inquisitor through Jaws of Hakkon and another through the Descent.

Trespasser is the only one that feels essential to me.  The Decent is pretty much a straightforward dungeon crawl, which is a nice change of pace to the main game, but it doesn't add much in the way of story.  I rather like Jaws of Hakkon, but it feels more like a side story, and the focus isn't on your main party.  The question sort of depends on how well you like this game.  None of them are bad per se, but Trespasser was the only must have IMO. At this point I can't really envision the game without it.
