It did sort of get a chuckle when I realized it's four women from the 2010's trying to roleplay four men in the 80's who are themselves trying to act in a film that's itself ridiculous in premise.

Same here. After watching that trailer...made me sick. I know they were going with a new group of ghostbusters...what I didnt know was the fact they chose to ignore the 1st 2 movies entirely.....and start with this new group as becoming the original ghostbusters...Its not the fact that they are all women..I dont mind that at all..the fact is I just don't like the actresses they chose..Emily Blunt & Jennifer Lawrence were heavily trying to get into this movie...Jennifer is such a huge ghostbuster fan..she can quote any line from the 1st movie.

Believe me.  I love females.  More than anything, but it does feel a bit off. When you make a Ghostbusters movie, it should be males and not only that, but it should specifically be 4 males.  The ones that played the roles in the original movie.  I understand they are a lot older and this isn't realisic and all that, but that doesn't change the fact of what "Ghostbusters" means to me personally.  I am still open minded and would be willing to give anything a shot barring them not playing their roles.

 

Also in reality there were 3 scientists in the movie and 1 guy who was just looking for a job. "If theres a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say"   Now maybe he was a scientist, but I don't remember that.

 

 

That shows you how much care and knowledge of the original movies went in this when the trailer clearly says 4 scientists.  I know I could get used to all women, but ignoring the license you are using is way out there.

It's a cheap cash-in with poorly written slapstick that is trying to appear hip while relying on namebrand recognition to carry it at the box office because they know it cannot stand on its own merits.

 

Chauvinism has nothing to do with it.

 

I probably wouldn't mind it so much if it was set as a continuation of the originals, but instead it is a total remake/reboot.  There's a planned remake of The Naked Gun, and my opinion of that will be the same as this.  That one stars a man, btw.

What's bad about being a feminist tho? I consider myself one, it's in my best interest. I'd imagine most of the hate some have for this movement stems from the more radical/obnoxious members. They do nothing to help the cause, only hurt it more imo. Anyway I'll step off my soapbox now.

I'm in the "money-grab" camp.  "Re-imagining" the team as women is mostly just about appealing to the changing demographics of movie-goers, and partly because it is impossible to do another movie with the original cast now.

^^^^^^^ So if these new people are supposed to be the "original" ghostbuster crew..then who the hell are the original actors going to be playing?  just random people off of the street?...wack...........they should have made these girls a continue-ation of the original story-line....1 of Aykroyd's 1st ideas was to have a ghostbusters movie where the originals turned ghostbusting into a franchise with chapters all across the country..that sounded interesting. also, the reason I am so attached to the original movie..is, it is the very 1st movie I ever remember seeing in my entire life...(1st love is the best).

I'm gonna say what most guys dare not for fear of offending people. Strike 1 for me was casting 4 women. I hate to say it but a majority of females in the entertainment biz, especially comedians, just arent funny to me. Theres always the Kim Wayans and Lenora Critchlows of the world but this cast is trash.

Strike 2 was reversing the gender roles and having the mighty Dudebro Thor as the pencil pusher. Wat mang?

Strike 3, the original cast has moved on. Akroyd had wanted to do a sequel since 2006 but many things got in the way, primarily Bill Murray being mostly disinterested (yet he has a James Randi like cameo). Harold Ramis died, RIP. Ernie Hudson was busy up until 3 years ago. When Ramis passed on it was mostly over. If they recast as a new generation (Akroyd's plan I would still be interested. Then I hear rumors of an all female cast and decidedly went "**** this movie." I'd have given it a chance if thet kept the same continuity at least but this screams of SJW garbage. Stop changing my icons for cash grabs Hollywood.

I Don't like third wave feminism for many reasons, I would love it if they actually were useful like you know...Helping middle eastern woman?

I checked, and I have it on good authority that the quote is, indeed, supposed to read "Haters gonna hate." As you clearly find the content of my posts very upsetting, as well, my understanding is that I am supposed to do something further with it than simply repeat it.
