I keep seeing threads and posts talking about Krogans, Something that always comes up is that a Krogan weighs a ton in armour. I can't find anything reliable that says this. Am I missing something or is this just people being speculative?

In ME3, Wrex is continually ref as an 800 lb Krogan. Am guessing that a ton is a bit of a stretch, though half ton seems spot on.

That reference can be taken with a grain of salt. Cortex was just scared shitless. I think he said 600 pounds. Wrex in full gear seems like he would weigh more.

He said 'eight hundred pound krogan.' On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Cortez didn't make Wrex stand on a scale before deciding whether or not he'd give up the pilot's seat.

Given that Wrex isn't actually taller than a human, I'd guess his weight to be closer to 300-350 pounds, armor and all.

The wiki entry on Krogan is sort of cited.  Cerberus Daily News had an entry about a 150kg Krogan.  Skarr was described in Revelation like this:

At two and a half meters tall and nearly two hundred kilograms, he was large even by the standards of his reptilian species, but not enormous.

Cortez was probably using hyperbole.

The average Krogan is over 7 feet tall. That's just a game mechanic. Skarr from the book is 8 feet 2 inches.

Both adult male lions and silverback gorillas can weigh close to 500 lbs. Mature bison bulls can get up to 2,000 lbs.

I can buy into Wrex weighing several hundred pounds.

Seven feet tall from toe to tip of the hump, perhaps. However, seven feet tall still does not make someone average five hundred pounds more than an NFL linebacker. Doubling the body thickness does increase the weight significantly, but still not enough to make a Krogan weigh almost a ton.

Cortez was likely using hyperbole when referring to Wrex's weight.

ME1 Wrex I can buy weighing a tonne. When you meet him for the first time and he fronts up to Shepard it's like "whoa! this guy's like a juggernaut."

ME2 and ME3 Wrex seem to have got a nerf from the original.

imo

Wrex brings down a shuttle in ME3 with his weight alone.
