I still do alot of Silver solos...helps get rid of the horrible weapon challenges faster....There needs to be a much faster way to finish the melee challenge...1 millions points is ridiculous. Even as a krogan on whatever difficulty vs geth....if all you do is just melee..without firing one single shot the entire match....it still takes way too long

Dog of War was the second banner I got after Biotic God. I soloed a few Silvers with the kroguards and then started my training for Lone Wolf banner. So I did many Gold solos with the same kit and eventually got all melee challenges.

I must say, Biotic Charge + Heavy Melee chains up pretty well.

A boring one is 250 grabs. Sometimes 3 Husks will come a you and one will jump over to your side during the grab animation. Then you need to reposition yourself and get shot by Cannibals and Marauders.

QFT. If I struggle to find a game I often take a KroSol to Dagger for some Silver lols, catching up on over-cover grabs and meleeing all the things - even more than I would in a full pug group (which is a lot), but 1 million points is beyond ridiculous.

I doubt if you melee as much as me. (I've done Combat Mastery 13 times and only ever wear the Grunt banner :P ) The melee points are so far out of whack with grenade damage and headshots it's not even funny. Melee points, Guardians and Husks are the top three unbalanced challenges which have to be done regularly - the Collector's Seeker Swarms are even worse, but you really can just ignore them.

Well, I'm into banners, so completing a Gold Challenge once is fine for me. Additionally I have less than 150 hours in the game, so surely I won't have any Gold challenge 13x.

I guess it depends on each person I'd say. I melee more than I use grenades, so I'm more than half way through Melee Damage 3 for the second time without focusing on that.

I need to get used to grenades. I find a bit annoying having to run to ammo boxes too often. That's why I don't use the Drell Adept too much: he relies mainly on Cluster nades, so it's a constant run for ammo.

I think you misunderstood - I wasn't bragging about by banner 'achievements'; I was just citing them as an example that I should know what I'm talking about regarding the melee points.  It really really doesn't depend on each person. Whether or not you melee or use grenades more doesn't change the objective fact that it is much easier to score 300k points with grenades than it is to score 1 million with melee, if for no other reason than you can generally only kill one enemy at a time with melee. But so we're clear, I'm very happy to hear that you enjoy playing melee characters, as I believe them to be the most fun in the game.  :)

Nightman - yeah, wave 8 Geth Gold is one of my favourites for the same reason, but where Cerberus are concerned it's only Guardians I struggle to find the points for. I've been playing the Asari Adept a bit, and Stasis can be glorious for Nemesis points. I also like the Shadow for dealing with them.

Doesn't Shadow Strike count as melee damage for the purposes of challenges?  I run the Shadow quite frequently, and I've never had problem with melee.  But then I also play a melee Kroguard a lot as well....

Yep, the Shadow is pretty epic for challenges.  It's the Talon Merc who doesn't accrue melee points - just one of the reasons I dislike him.

It is true but some challenges, although unbalanced like melee, might be faster to complete for some people. I admit that I went on 2 Silvers with the Demolisher and finished my nade challenges.

As for melee some builds are quite fun indeed. I tried the glass cannon GI but it was a total failure. I managed to double HM but I facepalmed countless times so I didn't like it.

I really like Vanguards for melee.

It was indeed. Perhaps he's the PS3 equivalent of the Xbox dude who refuses to play with BSNers, as my alt a/c is actually the incredibly innovative 'GruntKitterhand'.

(The quote in your sig cracks me up every time I see it btw :D )

I have been in a couple of lobbies with him. We didn't exchange pleasantries, but I could tell by his play he was a a**clown.

IIRC, Shadow Strike does not count towards melee, though oddly enough shadow strike kills do count towards the melee kill medals.

I do tend to accumulate a lot of melee points from the Shadow. I think it's partly because she can hit multiple targets and that adds more points quicker than a krogan, who can only hit one target at a time. I guess an asari heavy melee (don't you youngsters call it an "asarigasm" or something?) would have a similar effect on the melee score. Juggy light melee too.
