Viva la revolucion. We overthrow the puppet dictator that's ruling the galaxy on behalf of the aliens. Then the aliens establish a blockade keeping us in poverty for decades. That doesn't stop us from developing a better healthcare system than the aliens.

Tried Divinity Original Sin, no thank you. It is good some one makes those games. I applaud diversity. But why should every RPG be the bound to the same rules?
As for the whole "old vs new" thing, BioWare is now into big budget AAA cinematic storytelling which limits the amount of choices you can give a player due to the amount of money involved in doing so. There is no real going back for them at this point.
There are however a good deal of developers making games like PoE, Shadowrun, and Divinity Original Sin for your old school isometric RPG needs.

Seen here: http://forum.bioware...mea/?p=20057984 (I'm sure a lot of you have already seen it) it really comes down to screenplay narrative storytelling for Bioware and the characters involved. Its now more about short stories that you can interact with and see how your character(s) play out rather than a strict adherence to "RPGness" (whatever that means) and what people think about when they think of 1990s D&D roleplaying. Don't get me wrong, the RP elements are still there, but its hard to guide a narrative and story without giving the protagonist a clearly defined goal to work towards which then propels the story of the game. If I might make a comparison, its the difference between true open world games where its strength is a pretty big sand box in games like Fallout 4 and in focus is different, choosing to look more at good storytelling and characters that do a better job of suspending disbelief like TW3.
