You seem to care a lot about "trivial BS like this."
Said the feminist, how many times have u become triggered over a man having an opinion you didn't like.
grow up
Yes, it's degrading to women. With all the cleavage and big breasts like Liara's and all the Miranda butt shots.
Ugh
Anita Sarkeesan is not a feminist poster child. Even setting aside her dubious credibility, she's nowhere close to well known enough to be a feminist poster child.
Want to start naming feminist icons? Try Malala Youfsafzai or Louisa May Alcott.
As for the rest. Yes, you have encountered misandry on the internet. Of course you have, prejudice exists everywhere, in any form you can think of. It does not change the definition of the word "feminism," not even when people misuse it.
I never changed the definition of feminism, I specifically said "3rd wave feminism" which is just man hating.
Also Anita Sarkeesian is a poster child for 3rd wave feminism, as is Laci Green for example since she has her own show on MTV which MILLIONS of young women watch worldwide so the indoctrination is happening.
I admit some of the costumes, especially the female ones, make it hard for me to take Bioware's claims of being all progressive and egalitarian seriously
They don't claim to be egalitarian. They claim to be intersectional feminists.
In before "They are the same thing blah blah propaganda nonsense blah"
7) Apparently having sex with Jack/Miranda solves their personal issues
Same with Thane, Garrus and Cortez, it just shows that BioWare doesn't understand that sex rarely "fixes" people.
It all comes off as rather misogynist, Mass Effect 2 in particular. It's like BioWare subscribes to the idea that beauty and sex empower women, and that there is nothing wrong with sex work.
More like you're trying to find a boogeyman in a relatively progressive game company.
But keep going, we haven't had an honest to God SJW for quite a while.
Leave it to Wrex to make a response that essentially works for all conversations.
Says the proud feminist
They're practically internet "tough women" but most are fat and ugly.
Hey, prove me wrong, prove me wrong.
You might not agree with me, you might not even like me, but I'm still right and you're still wrong.
Now go on and get triggered by more irrelevant things whilst we laugh at you darling (:

"3rd wave feminism" is still a pretty large and diverse category. I mean, hell, one of the most common criticisms levied against it is how unfocused and incohesive it is.
Case in point, you brought up both Anita Sarkeesian and Laci Green as supposed poster children for third wave feminism. One is uptight and critical of sexualized portrayals of women in media; the other is a strong advocate for the destigmatization of female sexuality. So is third wave feminism sex-positive or sex-negative? The answer is that it's neither. It's an amorphous amalgamation of different views and ideas with a general tendency towards challenging negative trends in how society deals with femininity.

3rd wave feminism is a joke, you can sum it up by playing a victim card that doesn't exist and thinking every single last thing is a man's fault.

The main enemy in Mass Effect 4 is going to be a giant testicle with wings.
There. Now I responded to your comment by ignoring it entirely and making a completely unsubstantiated claim.

The Reapers are going to be in ME4??!?!/1
I'm Draining Dragon, and Natashina is my favorite feminist on the BSN.
On a serious note, I think the term SJW is indeed thrown around carelessly at times. However, the same is true of words such as "misogynist" and "homophobe," and that doesn't mean we need to stop using those words when they are appropriate. I think it's important to have a way of calling out people who abuse the mantle of "social justice" in order to justify toxic behavior and undermine discussion. If nothing else, it helps avoid conflation with actual liberals.
A point very well made, and one I've tried to make on several occasions. This is coming from someone who has been called an SJW, bigot, misogynist and a libtard on here. I'm left leaning, but i'm opposed to mainstream feminism (I don't use the term radical feminism because that implies it's a minority or fringe, which couldn't be further from the truth) and the social justice crowd so i'm disliked by far left and far right posters alike. Misogyny get's thrown around just as much as SJW on the BSN but i've seen no campaigns to get people to stop using that word.

This is one of feminism's biggest strengths and also one of it's biggest weaknesses imo. No one can seem to pinpoint what feminism actually is, even feminists. To some it's a movement/ideology for women's rights, for some it's a movement for human rights, to others it's a movement to espouse misandry and bigotry. Not to mention the movement has co-opted the LGBTQ rights and racial inequality movements as well, which makes the word "feminism" all the more confusing. All of those people identify under the label and none of them are wrong either.
Feminism means whatever any feminists want it to mean at any given time. The strength here is that people can do/say terrible things under the banner of feminism but people can't criticize it because there's always that good old dictionary definition to fall back on. The bad eggs aren't true feminists, see? They're just radicals, true feminism is entirely benevolent and wholesome and good, look it up in the dictionary! Despite the fact that many of the movements figureheads and MVPs would fall under that radical label. The people who have shaped, and are continuing to shape feminist literature and discourse.
It's a weakness because not being able to pigeonhole it and allowing for so many ideologies is off putting to people who otherwise wouldn't have a problem with it, like me. I can't abide the bigots and misandrists and while they are the driving forces behind the movement not only will I not label myself a feminist, i'll actively oppose them.

Um Feminism by definition is a women's movement to have the same equal rights that men do, that's kind of how they managed to get the vote just like a man can. Then they got all the rights that men have but they're not content with that since they want more, in essence they want supremacy over men, playing the victim card if anyone dare oppose them and label them "women haters".
Truth is I would have stood for feminism many moons ago, but now it's turned into such a one sided, man hating biggotted group that I don't wany anything to do with it. Women in the western world have all the opportunities, rights that men do and then some but don't ever seem content so they now ruthlessly go after men for the simplist things. Manspreading is an actual term which implies men spread their legs for some form of dominance rather than so their balls won't get crushed (also here's the absolute kicker, women also spread their legs too) so why can't we have "womenspreading" oh wait I forgot, only men can spread their legs on public transport and get jailed for it because women could never do that. Also mansplaining, at first I thought this was a joke, but it turns out it's now an actual word, an incredibly sexist word, one which seems to be used a lot nowadays, even in high areas of political power.
There is a reason why a lot of men hate feminism, it's because of this ****. If you want to be taken seriously again, stop making everything a man's fault and go after the real issues women still face today, those in the middle-east, islam not this meaningless crap, men don't care if you hate us and we'll soon just ignore everything you have to say.

I like how you think you have support here.
There have been several recent threads/posters here who are criticizing Bioware's liberal stance on social issues. I wonder why they have recently created accounts just to antagonize the vast majority of the posters, when they could very easily visit most other game company websites and not have the amount of backlash against their conservative views. Bioware is a socially liberal and progressive company, if you don't like it, you will find many many many other companies who are either silent or agree with your views. Why not go there rather than scream at the majority of people here who agree with Bioware?

I don't make posts to pander to people, I only speak the truth.
I'd rather be disliked by everyone for speaking the truth than liked by everyone for following the flock.
Also this is a forum, you know a place where one can express their opinions and views on things, even if you disagree with them, so by right I am allowed to post whatever opinion or view I won't so long as I don't be malicious and disrespectful about it.
keep going.

Feminism has been a vile ideology and transparent power grab since day one regardless of "wave", from the first wavers whom handed out white feathers during WW1 to shame men into enlisting, to the second wavers that had such colorful characters as Susan "the white race is the cancer of human history" Sontag and Andrew "all sex is rape" Dworkin(which we all have to thank for the rape hysteria we see today).
I have zero tolerance for these people IRL(I have as much use for feminism as an eskimo does a lawnmower), once, my (now)ex claimed to be a feminist and i told her straight up, "there's not going to be any feminism in this relationship", and sure enough, there wasn't.
Feminism is clearly defined. It means the belief in political and social equality between the sexes. Simple. If a person decides to misinterpret that as a license for misandry, on either side of the line, that's their mistake.
As for the conspiracy theories that all feminists seek some kind of dominion over men: codswallop.
I'm pretty content and grateful to have exactly the same rights as men.

I'll just quote this for another like for the post and the use of the word "codswallop."
