Didn't care much for the Exalted Plains.  The story was weaker, the washed-out look of the scenery wasn't very pleasing, the ramparts were a colossal pain to navigate (especially when demon infested, since Arcane Horrors can teleport and cast magic through walls, because **** you), and even once mostly cleared, there were still plenty of random wolf encounters that could put you into combat mode just by being in your general vicinity, making travel options limited.

I honestly pretty much loved all the other areas, though.

Exalted Plains for its dull color palettes and Forbidden Oasis for being a small limited area.

I kinda liked Oasis for being so smallish. DAI is wearingly full of enormously large maps with little to do, so the smaller ones feel refreshingly manageable. Sadly, there were only two such maps: Fallow Mire and Forbidden Oasis.

"Most Hellish Area: DA:I Base Game"

This is difficult for me because the game was so trivially easy and breakable. I have soft platinumed this game (base, not DLC), and the nightmare run I did past the halfway mark was a breeze.

I would say the most annoying areas are the Hissing Wastes (long areas of nothing, ridiculously stretched puzzle pieces, infuriating to first-time-find High Dragon), and the Exalted Plains/Dalish Area (psuedo-same spacial problem, double war-table extraneous missions for areas that should have been reachable without using power, boring overall feel with infi-enemy spawning and stupid evasive Horrors).

As far as worst area in the game, believe it or not the Ferelden Frostback approach in the Hinterlands after the camp. The absolute balls the developers had to put an arbitrary cap on health potions and then create an area in which you are assaulted by scaling enemies with more-than-normal health while having damage hurled at you via fireballs astounds me. Granted, this is circumvented by a mad dash to the enterance of the lair, but regardless it infuriates me that the fight was so dismally simple that they had to add a tax to it in order to try to make it difficult.

Other than that, after the half-way point due to armor and weapon crafting, potion upgrades, and ability knowledge (ie. I have played an RPG before and understand what is a skill tree) I never had a character aside from Bull (Looking at you, AOE soaker) ever get close to death, and even if they DID, I just had the invicible Viviene put a buble around herself as a Knight Enchanter, revive said character, and immediately boost-barrier them while they chugged a potion.

Of course, there were a few other places such as certain fade rifts where they would spawn multiple Dodging Despair Demons, or the Exalted Plains/Dalish Area dungeon in which Dodging Teleporting Arcane Horrors would keep spawning, sometimes in the multiple.

The Exalted Plains can suck it.  I hate it.  Hate it.  HATE. IT.

Did I mention I hate it?  It sounds like buzzing insects, it is the color of dead grass.  It is biege.  It's a craggy, rocky warzone.  I hate it.

DA:I would have been improved if these admittedly nice looking areas were more linear in design and better populated with npc's.
The open world nature just didn't work.

Genuinly sorry to be that guy, but basically all of them. It's all the same to me with the ''content'' that can be found in them. Fight this many of this, collect this much of that, etc. etc. . . f-- off.

If taken from a design perspective, probably the Storm Coast. I generally dislike when area's have the same weather locked, but with rain it's on another level - that shyte should probably be flooded by now, for Andraste's sake. I guess it's just miraculously stormy whenever we're there.

Or maybe the Emerald Graves. I love lush foresty areas, but at some point all that poppingly bright green becomes too much and it's all just awash with a single colour, which makes it feel the opposite of lush, to me.

Both of which kinda reminds me of the Fable series, with it's same approach of open areas littered with chests that no one, for some reason, opened before you.

Then there's the Hissing Wastes. Most of it is desert. And all that desert is nighttime dark. I mean, couldn't we pop in at early morning, before it gets really hot and all that. *sigh*

Staying with the a purely design aspect, my favorites are probably Crestwood and the Exalted Plains

The Hissing Wastes. Big, dark, empty area with almost nothing to do. There is only one quest I dislike in this entire game and it's Notes on the Wastes. Looking for those notes is terribly boring and frustrating. Of course, it's not all bad. The night sky is very pretty and then there's that weird chantry sister. Still, three big desert areas is too much for one game.

I didn't like the Oasis. Just trying to find location point through that maze of an area was horrible.

Exalted Plains. I hated the undead, the colors, the music. Just everything about it makes me cringe.

Storm Coast. I hate killing Mabari! I disliked having so few interesting quests there, now I just rush directly to Bull and Blackwall's lost badge and don't bother with other parts of it. Guess the music is important for whether I like an area or not...

PS: Hissing Wastes were quite cool due to the lore behind the dwarven Ruins and of course because of Loyal Betyar Dragonslayer!!

For me it's a tie between Fallow Mire and the Dragon arena's in the Emprise du Lion.

It's not that the Fallow Mire is difficult or anything, I just find the whole place damp and depressing and the constant barrage of weak walking corpses just gets on my nerves.

On the other hand those dern Dragon Arena's are just hell on Thedas for me.  While I like a good dragon battle, these 3 just take the cake for me.  Rarely do I make it out of there on the first try, no matter my level.  Other dragons, hey!  Great!  No problem.  In Emprise, ARRRGH!

Exalted Plains in a second.  It is a gorgeous zone, which makes its a god damned shame its one of the worst exploration experiences I've ever had in a game. Constant backtracking, two awful collectathon quests (shards and letters), two zones you can't enter without doing war table ops and for a area that seems so intrinsic to whats going on Orlais it has absolutely no effect on anything in Orlais.

Yeah, getting around in the Exalted Plains is an absolute PITA. I'll add to your list: it was full of areas you should've been able to climb but couldn't. Old Bioware design at its worst, a time sink with little fun. I was always relieved when I was done with the northern part and could go and explore the beautiful southern area.

wel in fairness those dragons are supposed to be the toughest in the game so it kind of makes sense that they hand you're "£$% to you every now and then. Still happens to me on occasion so I don't consider it that bad

The Exalted Plains

Tedious to traverse

Boring to look at

2 main quests that are a bunch of running around

collectibles are at their worst here

Why, oh why couldn't the Ring of Doubt be located elsewhere?

Oh god, the freaking Plains. Most of my inqusitors hate Vivienne just so they can skip the plains. I only go if I'm playing an elfy-elf to meet the Dalish group.

It's so huge and barren and all those skeletons, blah. I hate the fetch quests that take me from one end of the map to the other.

And that flipping underground puzzle that takes bloody forever since no one will stay where they're supposed to!

Hate the whole stupid map, and it barely gives enough power to make it worth unlocking in the first place.

The Forbidden Oasis and Solasan. The shards in the actual area can be hard to reach, the shards themselves as a greater concept require a huge time investment, the area of the oasis is a 3d labyrinth (by which I mean that there are paths above the other paths rather than the maze simply being a relatively straightforward flat area) and to top it off that area's started to hit me with serious lag unpredictably. (I can believe that can happen anywhere if you all tell me so, but I personally have never gotten it anywhere else. Also it ends when I pause, and starts up again if I unpause in any manner except Fast-Traveling somewhere that's not the Oasis.)

And it doesn't help that desert's not really my thing.

The Hissing Wastes were really, really tedious. Not to mention I travelled on foot for hours waiting for banter, and when it came it was mostly, "*Cough cough* *insert random complaint about the sand and dry air*"...

The Storm Coast was frustrating to navigate, and the rain is just too depressing. The Forbidden Oasis was hard to navigate too. I've done that area 3 or 4 times and I still get to a point where I start walking around in circles trying to get to the last few shards.

Another tally for the Exalted Plains here. I hated it a little less the second time around, but it still feels like such a sludge to me. Cleaning out all the skeletons and demons across the battlements is probably my least favorite thing to do there, followed by the damn elvhen puzzle. It's so bleak, too, in color and atmosphere. I realize that was intended, but it doesn't make it fun to play.

I love Emprise du Lion for the most part, but cleaning out the quarry can be really tedious, too. I think I've been putting that off with my current game for about two months now. :P

(And I know I'm minority, but I actually adored the Hissing Wastes. I have a strong bias towards desert levels, though.)

I'm going to assume he means "achieved perfect endings easily and won all the fights with no effort," because otherwise this phrase makes no sense in context.
