Okay, so i've been thinking what if the woman in this picture is an asari.

https://upload.wikim...fobox,_2015.png

She looks like she has tentacles on her head, what if she is Shepard's and Liara's daughter if people had chosen her for a love interest that is. Liara did in fact mention some little blue children at the last mission. And since the developers told that ME:A takes place long after mass effect 3 she would be a perfect candidate for a protagonist because asari live for 1000+ years .I am really hoping for her to be their daughter because i always wanted to play as an asari. What do you think? I want to hear your opinions.

Alas, Bioware has confirmed that we will only be able to play as a human in Mass Effect: Andromeda, because they want to tell a very "human" story.  -_-

Thank god.

Yeah, what would we do without yet another human-centric ego stroking Mass Effect game?  <_<

Well seeing as the writers are all human I don't imagine they are particularly capable of crafting anything other than a "human" story.

Exactly, we're all used to it. Humanity FTW.

Asari are disgusting.

The protagonist is human.

Humanity being the superspecialawesome race is one of the worst tropes in storytelling where there are other intelligent species. There are a few stories that can pull it off, but Mass Effect certainly isn't one of them. That was one of the things I was hoping would get left behind, but with Mac Walters as Creative Director I guess I shouldn't be surprised they would do it again. We had the perfect opportunity to have race selection in Mass Effect since all the Milky Way races are in the same boat both literally and metaphorically, but they went with the human-centric ego stroking nonsense again.

Race options would be great for the new ME game but sadly there is not.

I don't think that would be great. I think it's very much advantageous that Mass Effect sticks to a single racial protaganist.

I would have been fine with species selection... if they were making an MMO, which they aren't, and thank god for that when you consider how the last one turned out. Human or demihuman protagonists work best in story-driven single-player RPGs.

But that trope is awesome, I love the power we have s2.

What possible objective advantage would there be?

Reflection of said racial state in the story of course.

No they would be great even if they didn't affect everything too much like everyone wants, just having the option itself would be awesome. The problem with racial options is people want too much from it rather than it just being there as an option. Thats why it fails so much because we expect too much when its put in.

That's not an objectively good advantage. Can you elaborate?

But adding it has a definite cost too in terms of reflection vs a singular option. I just don't think that cost is worth it without the effort put in to have true reflection for all options.

ME1 did not feel human-ego-stroking. The premise according to the leak doesn't sound to be either except for the stupid "Uncover ancient technology to advance the human race" part.

While it is less than ME2 or ME3, ME1 does have quite a bit of it. For example humanity being able to hold their own against the Turians, getting an embassy in a few years while other races wait decades or centuries, getting a seat on the Council which races that have been contributing to the Council for centuries or even millennium haven't done, the Alliance having a huge swath of the galaxy as theirs, the Alliance fleet defeating Sovereign when the Council fleet could do nothing, etc.

They can do it like DAO, where the story converges to one center story making what race you are pointless. Anyways for Asari, that one could have a human parent that makes our Asari character more connected to humanity.  Other races can't think of anything other than we are on the same ship and we need to work together to survive

Given how poorly DAI implemented racial choice i'm very dubious that they have the will to invest in multiple deep reflective origin stories anymore.

Personally i'll be happy if there's decent reflective choices for singular human backgrounds.

I'm not a fan of doing to origin stories again, unless maybe if they start on the Ark leaving your life in the Milky Way(I suspect stasis pods being used rather than it being a generational ship) ambiguous.

I thought they were good.

The less our background is predetermined and referenced, the better in my opinion.
