It's the original emotion becoming corrupted, not turning into the opposite.
Vengeance isn't the opposite of Justice. Someone who wants Vengeance believes that vengence is Justified.
Wisdom is knowledge. Pride is a person believing they are acting with wisdom, and that they have greature knowledge than others.
Same for the others.
Something that is also not really touched on is the spirit guide. Ameridan definitely refers to a spirit companion that advises him on the best course of action against Hakkon. Whilst Telana is a dreamer, there is no indication that Ameridan is. However, Ameridan does make a specialty of hunting down demons and rogue mages. Whilst he claims not to be a Seeker, does a spirit protect him from possession or mind control in much the same way that a Seeker is immune? What sort of spirit was Ameridan's? A spirit of faith, hope or something else. How did it come to be his guardian? Solas' spirit companions seem to have been acquired during his extended period in uthenera but would seem to nearest approximation to Ameridan's spirit, so it is a pity that even if Solas or Cole are with you they make no comment about this.
