For the mage hunt, the one that gives me the most trouble is what to do about Huon, the blood mage with a wife in the alienage.  He's despicable and should be killed, but what of his wife?  Is there any way to save her aside from not doing the quest?  I particularly feel guilty after promising to protect her.

Evalina's is certainly a sad story, but there's nothing to be done.  She's already an abomination when you meet her.

As to the poor sod at the Hanged Man, just curious how most dealt with him.  Let him escape or return him to the Circle?  Given his background -- in the Circle at 6 -- could he even survive on the outside without someone looking out for him?

I don't know of any way to save Huon's wife. I do the quest though, even if it means her death because her husband is going to keep killing until he's killed. I assume he's going to kill her whether I do the quest or not, at some point.

I just try to help Evalina's kids because that's all I can do.

I've always let the young man spend the night with the woman and then send him back to the circle. I doubt he'd survive living on his own. After all, sitting in the Hanged Man wasn't a smart move, if he wanted to escape the circle for good.

I let him go, as I was playing an anti-Circle Hawke.

Huon's wife dont salvageable (at least I have not seen an option for it).

Evalina must dead, I always gave the boys some gold.

Emile: I always let him go away to Kirkwall.

I figured Huon's wife was a hopeless situation; forever condemned to arrive just a little too late.  I suppose this episode was meant to illustrate what evil blood magic is all about.

Anders says something to the effect of mages like Emile having been in the Circle so long that they do not know how to function outside of it.

I mean, when you spell it out like that, why would you send him on his way? He's already shown really poor judgment. Unless he plans to seek a Circle outside of Kirkwall, this experiment will in all likelihood end in disaster. And, since there may be magic involved in this particular disaster, best to avoid it and the collateral that might follow.

That said, I do let him lay with Nella before going.

I love how Hawke says "Well?" when he returns, and he's like "I'm not telling you about it!" xD

Too bad Emile couldn't be a companion.  Maybe a LI. hahahaha. I would imagine his mother would be thrilled that her son is with the Champion fighting all the baddies in Kirkwall.

The Huron guy. Yeah. He's a crackpot. Too bad his wife is killed.

I give 5 sovereigns to the kids to get food and blankets. Too bad I couldn't have them work for me as my house cleaners.

You can't 'not do' the quest. On the Loose is a main quest.

"he died with his boots on" does not apply to Huon. He died with your boots on - the Boots of the Champion.

That said, I do let him lay with Nella before going.

It is even funnier if you try to pair Emile with Isabela.

Normally, I would have Emile spend the night with the girl and then send him back to the circle. But with meredith, I'd rather send him on the way. I was afraid, that I see him as a tranquil the next time, I visit the Gallows...

I did not send back anyone to the lunatic woman. :)

I did try varying party members when dealing with Emile.  Having both Isabela and Evaline is particularly funny.  Fenris is a complete stick in the mud on this one given his suspicion of mages.  I didn't get as much out of Varric as I expected.  Does he need to paired with anyone in particular?

I do not think so. Everyone brings his own form.

Now that you mention it I think I remember various scenes with his mom...I'm going to Youtube all the variations right now. I know that I reloaded so that I could hear everybody's comments about him, in the bar. I'm replaying DAO right now and look forward to replaying DA2 again, because I like listening to the companions' comments so much.  :)
