Yes I figure this topic has been covered but a quick search didn't yield.
Maybe one of the big brains here could help advise on this query?
I did destroy the heretic Geth in ME2, so what else do i need to do to make this happen?

Have legion upload the code, assuming you did his loyalty and tali's loyalty mission. Extra paragon and renegade options will pop up letting you tell the fleet to cease fire, the bucketheads will listen to you for once.
Results:
party i guess?
I don't know the specific reputation points or math behind it tbh
^thanks
Thought I did all that, but maybe I skipped Legion loyalty mission?

Make sure before you hit the Reaper Base to do the geth fighter squadron/ server mission with the terrible propaganda film, rescue that toaster hugger Koris from the toasters and have at least 4 full bars of Reputation. Provided you did both Tali's (without getting her exiled) and talking toaster's ME2 missions you should be golden since you rightfully blew up the Heretic toasters, even moreso if you mediated the two's spat over the toaster's blatant and unprovoked data thievery.
Anyway, after the glorious Migrant Fleet takes out the Reaper, you first troll the talking toaster by telling it you're not gonna let it have its precious Reaper code. It gets all butthurt, which is funneh. Then you let Tali stab it and shoot it in the face You'll then get a 2nd option to reconsider and let it upload the Pinnochicode, then you just gotta preach/shout at Han'Gerrel in blue or red to get him to bak off. I'd suggest to bring a paper bag because the ceasefire scene made me vomit the one time I did it, but you mileage may vary.
Don't forget to support Xen and Gerrel when you see them arguing with Tali and Raan between missions. It gives extra glorious quarian war assets.
In this aspect, I'd recommend watching Battlestar Galactica. There's one episode in season 4 where a Six copy confronted her murderer and asked whether she have some remorse about killing her, and she snapped and killed her murderer and let herself be executed. It was very deep, kinda make you wonder if some of the Geth developed personality early on and every single time they were killed, they resurrected with the memories of those who killed them.
So much potential...

We have a semi-example of this. If Legion "dies" at the Collector Base its platform is recovered by the geth somehow and restored via backups, but it has no knowledge of the events in ME2 because it never reconnected with the consensus to share the memory data.
That's the problem then. I killed the Reaper before destroying the Geth fighters.
Thx for that tidbit .. I was wondering if that was the reason.
And ya, BSG - watched it several times, awesome show

Yeah, that awful mission is literally a requirement if you want to get the ceasefire. Most of the other requirements are somewhat interchangable.
I'd probably never do that mission because playing toaster tetris is literally the most garbage level in the entire series, and I don't care to hear the geth's little sob story anyway, except you lose quarian war assets too.
anyway, here's a breakdown of the mechanics

Make sure Tali and Legion are loyal.
Tali doesn't have to be loyal in ME2, she just can't be exiled. Turning over the evidence to the Admirals will not get her exiled. If doing it this way, make sure to destroy the heretics in Legion's loyalty mission
In ME3, complete the geth squadron mission (geth consensus)
Save Admiral Koris
Have 4 full bars of reputation filled. If not, no chance of peace no matter if everything else is completed. My suggestion is to complete as many missions plus side missions before the reaper base mission. If you're still not sure, play a dlc to help raise your reputation.
^Come to think of it, I wonder if I've ever done the Geth fighter mission, it totally doesn't resonate. I think I normally save the admiral then attack the Reaper

It's the one where you shoot orange blocks with a fake gun and watch propaganda videos of quarians (who for some reason have suits even tho it's 300 years ago but W/e) shooting rebellious toasters and their sympathizers in droves, yet somehow still losing the planet to the (according to the videos) completely nonviolent geth.
^Wow, I've never done that. Something to look forward to.
Yes, the completely non-violent Geth that attack me on site thru two and a half games ... for all the good it does them.
You'd think their logic boards would eventually kick in and they'd be aware of their history vs the Shep .. "hey, we have zero chance of defeating this guy in combat, maybe some dialogue?"
^Wow, I've never done that. Something to look forward to.
