How would you guys feel about a crafting system for armor, weapons, pc ship, etc?

Somewhat like DA:I where you were able to piece together varying resources to have varying stat improvements. An example could be by crafting a helmet you could install a dialogue success mechanism which would increase your chances of manipulating or coercing people, you could install a visor mod which would allow you information about the person you're speaking to. This info would be similar to deus ex where jensen could tell their persona and keep track of how close or distant he was to succeeding in convincing them etc.

A torso mod could be something like a built in respiratory monitoring system which would increase the functionality of your life support when in contact with harsh or hazardous materials/conditions or a revival system that activates upon your death and heals you by a small percentage as to avoid game over(like the kitty collar in Dragon age). Leg mods could increase movement, biotic jumps could be implemented this way and arm mods could grant you an omni tool shield or barrier or melee damage output etc.

I think it'd be a neat lil system

I'd like customization of gear through a similar putting modules in slots kind of thing. However I wouldn't want crafting in the sense of gathering resources and combining them to make a thing, as it's annoying most of the time and would make even less sense in this setting.

Why does every game have to have a crafting system now? They are annoying for the most part. I am tired of gathering and hoarding useless stuff around.

I'd much rather they spend time and resources on making additional missions, companion content, more character development stuff and more story related stuff than tacked on MMO features.

Crafting? No thanks.

I don't even want endless upgrades again. You get a gun, then that's what you can use. You don't need to buy/find another 9 upgrades.

Same for armor pieces. Allow us customization for looks but keep the actual hunting/questing for the elusive 10% headshot bonus to a minimum.

Ideally we'd have armor and guns that are decent as they are and then we improve them with mods. Or the character themselves.

Let's be realistic, we play the BioWare games mostly for the story. Not for the rest. DA:I was filled with MMO style timesinks like gathering resources, fetch quests and crafting. I'm sorry, is Ryder going to be an engineer, technician or designer? An inventor? Or is Ryder a biotic soldier? Because at some point it becomes ridiculous if you have to create your own gear despite not having an education in that area.

BioWare should keep their focus on what they are good at: Telling old stories in an interesting, new way. Creating likeable companions, funny banter and sidequests that explore the world/lore they made.

If I want to craft armor and weapons, then I'll play SW:TOR. There the timesinks have a place.

If crafting is as simple as scan crate, add infinite number of crafting item, add to as many guns as you like for 200% shield damage bonus.

Missed crate? Buy item.

I like.

If I have to roam around god forsaken volcanic dead zones and drive up hill in the Mako looking for special rocks because my guns are obsolete at the current level.

No.

NO THANK YOU. I get far too much of that from Diablo 3. It's the last thing I wanna see in a dating simulator from space.

but what about the ultimate satisfaction of crafting space flowers for your love interest after spending 20 hours finding the ingredients and then waiting two hours for them to complete With a 5% success rate?!?!

Modular weapons of the kind where you can swap out barrels, stocks and sights would be good but a full crafting system in Mass Effect? No thanks. I want to spend my time shooting people in the face, not running around killing space-sheep for 300 leather to craft my next set of armour.

I agree with Saladinbob. When in the rel world has any one been sent to a war zone with instructions to gather iron ore to upgrade their rifle? Really are the government that cheep they can not afford equipment in ME. That does break immersion for me a lot. Its one thing finding anew weapon/armour and using it, but weapon designing your own gear from scratch?? How many grunts could do that!

I don't expect the protagonist to be able to jury-rig together hi-tech equipment from the bodies of fallen space-badgers if that's what you're getting at; hell were in a new galaxy with entirely unknown alien species I wouldn't expect the character to even know whether that knobbly metal thing was a gun or a toothbrush.

Scan it, upload the data to the mothership and let the boffinry sort it out... they'll tell you whether they manage to salvage anything useful from it or not.

I would stick with what ME3 did. Have mods and upgrades for weapons and armor.

I could have done without crafting in DAI honestly.  Really all it did was sidestep level restrictions and make looted gear largely irrelevant.

ME2 had a very streamlined version of crafting in that upgrades in missions were scanned (essentially schematics) and then you unlocked them with gathered resources.  Didn't have to produce one for each person that needed to use it.  I wouldn't be entirely opposed to "fabricating" in this sense.

No. I want more focus on tightening and balancing the gameplay better instead of convoluting it, which does the exact opposite.

I"m ok with crafting as long as we are not hostages of random loot.

That said, for weapons in particular, I found the way Dewad Space 3 - and to a lesser extent MGS5- dealt with wepaon customization a lot of fun. You have this pieces, you build the weapon however you want it, ands the effects vary greatly.

But it's not a must for me.

tbh it kind of makes more sense to me though not less but I think it depends on the length of time we've been in Andromeda by the time the game takes place. Because if we've only just arrived in Andromeda at he game's start then we are likely to need to go out and search for what we need and put it together ourselves. But again it depends on the situation and the story. Which we don't really know much about yet.

I don't want a crafting system in Mass Effect. I'd rather be able to buy and swap out modular pieces of weapons and armor (like ME3, but expanded), not run around on some planet harvesting metal nodes or some such.

Why would there be a crafting system? The armor and weapons in Mass Effect are absurdly advanced. They're manufactured, not pounded out over a furnace.

...but that would be an assembly system, not a crafting system. We essentially already had that in ME3.

Dont think ME needs crafting & really didnt care for DAI crafting that had very limited options that took way too long to collect all mats needed. However I'd definitely like more armor options

It'd be cool to have a super-advanced ultracompact device that can weave carbon fiber.

Talking about Kadala? Or Urshi?

Did you know that Javik voices a Witch Doctor ghost in D3?
