I actually love crafting stuff in DA, but that's due in large part to the fact that it makes sense to have it there. Mods are really all ME should really use, because everything is prefabricated.

You must be joking OP.
Star Trek has the Holo Deck and Replicators and you want a Crafting System designed for pre-industrial societies?
ME:A's tech uses advanced materials that require manufacturing methods beyond the comprehension of the ancient Smith
So, No to Crafting.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of "no crafting." 9 times out of 10 crafting systems in SP games just sort of annoy me in general (master blacksmith/alchemist/whatever is rarely in line with my character concept), unless they implement it in a way that has other people doing your crafting for you (like DAI).
We have an acceptable solution from ME2 forward, wherein weapons, armor, and other tech are fabricated and manufactured aboard our ship.
Although I guess I could get behind the notion of having some sort of upgrade "crafty" thing centered around your arkbound eggheads doing research into new, andromedan tech.

i think ME need to stay as it is, and have only the mod system really.
Adding Crafting to a already complex system will unbalance it, plus the "crafting" doesnt fit really to a game base on the future.
For me crafting is more associate to Fantasy settings.

irl 3d printers depending on which one you use are capable of using metal and such. With ME and the technology in hand it could be used even for Eezo. The Eezo would be tricky but I think it could be done, cnc like machines combined with 3d printer like machines would be a viable option. Clicky----> https://all3dp.com/3...vs-cnc-milling/That prints metal and woven carbon fiber? And Eezo?

Given that we are (supposedly) exploring new frontiers, it would make some sense to use our know-how to aid in our colony's survival.
Someone mentioned Star Trek, hell even Kirk would occasionally craft things to survive when he was out of contact with the Enterprise.
As far as game mechanics go, I personally find the collection of resources DA:I style to be kind of meditative, but I can see how people would view it as monotonous.
If they do implement crafting, they need it to be both rewarding for the crafter and completely optional for the non-crafter, and that's a tricky balance to create.

I rather not see crafting either unless you refer to something like what Mass Effect 1 or 3 had when you just insert found items into your weapon and armor to slightly alter the way it functions.
The problem I have always had with crafting in games is that it always becomes a chore, but at the same time becomes a requirement. I tried playing Dragon Age: Inquisition without crafting and eventually it became a necessity and the encounters that were giving me trouble became a cakewalk and I have that experience with every game with crafting weapons or armor that I can remember.

But you forget, we lose all of those industries when we go to Andromeda. Bye Bye GE, hello crafting.
I think that it'll be a much better crafting system though. Like say, we can only craft five torsos, but along with each of those torsos it has say 5 different slots in it where we can put a specialized piece of equipment (kind'a like TOR). Instead of like DA:I, where we could craft 517 different torsos, and we had to give that piece of equipment up as soon as we had the resources for the next piece of equipment and an incremental upgrade.
I think the same will be true of weapons. One gun, just what you add on to it is what makes the difference.

Yes, the industries are gone.
However, you cannot manually craft high tech toys... be it armour or weapons. It's as simple as that. The ARKCON planners would make sure the colonists on arrival will have all the necessary means for survival while maintaining their current level of tech. Fabrication units will take care of producing the necessary hardware.
Crafting belongs in DA:I and even there I found it tedious.

Skyrim style finding veins of ore, mining them, smelting them and then crafting x number of them into a pair of gauntlets - f*ck no.

Usually, games that has crafting in it, I tend to ignore it. Now, Fallout 4 was the only game I enjoyed crafting, because everything you found could be used for crafting material. So I did not really have to go out of my way to find materials to craft and be effective. However, I ended up ditching crafting and just using items used by the enemies I've killed instead. I feel as if I won't enjoy Andromeda if I am forced to craft gear and weapons in order to be effective. This was NEVER in the previous Mass Effect games. I mean, even scanning planets to upgrade the ship and certain items was a chore and I hated it. And I felt forced to do so, in order to get an ending I want.
No crafting please, or at least make it be optional and not required.

I'd prefer not. A crafting system doesn't actually add all that much to a game. When it's shoehorned in, it's more detrimental than anything. Resource gathering is a time consuming thing, which more and more people find little value in.

NO. As time sink mechanism goes, I rather watch paint dry than spending more hours crafting mods, hilts, augments on another freaking bioware game.

If your gonna do crafting look at the Atelier or Ar tonelico series. Have us craft stuff from items we are picking up anyways instead of us having to go out of our way and give us dialog for crafting stuff. Then we have a tangible reason for doing so.

...but that would be an assembly system, not a crafting system. We essentially already had that in ME3.
Assembling and crafting are essentially the same thing in this instance though

I'd be fine without the crafting, I've always seen it as more of a DA feature than ME.

People really spend hours crafting? I found it could take longer actually getting enough material to craft with than it takes to make something (perhaps it's just me but it seems as though the looting animation is quicker now). Once I have the mats I want I can usually make my entire group's final armor sets in less than 20 min. I only spend more time because I like to browse everything and play with the tinting.
Well, on my latest playthrough, I killed all the dragons. I had trouble with the first couple things I crafted after that. But after that, meaning dragons 3+, I never had a problem and didn't for the rest of the game.
