So I wonder how flying the ship will be exactly, like will you take the reigns and actually pilot it in the hopes of being the next Joker or will you have an ai system that engages auto pilot with you inputting coordinates on the fly? Or perhaps both. I personally would love to be able to fly the ship like you can in elite dangerous, I'm hoping it will be exactly or as close as possible to that. I want to be able to fly into a black hole for shits n giggles, into a planet's atmosphere, into a solar storm and asteroid field only to regret it as my ship gets obliterated by my poor choice of destination. I'm okay with fast travel but seeing as how we can fly a ship I hope it's not extremely watered down.

Check it out, flying through a black hole: /

And into the sun: http://youtu.be/73pW1ORiKfk

Look at those videos, friggen sweet.

What would you guys want or hope when it comes to flying our ship throughout the helius cluster? How do you think docking stations and refuel stations will work?

I doubt this will happen, it will likely be click the star map and watch a cut screen (hopefully one you can skip) Would not be bothered even if they made it pilot-able anyway. Not what I want out of ME.

I doubt it as well. I'd rather they concentrate on the plot. We'll have the Maki-mako to pimp anyway.

Refuel stations... it was realistic, yes, but boring. I've never liked them.

And I'm sorry I also doubt what you described will happen :/

Flying the ship yourself will likely never happen in Mass Effect. That isn't BioWares unique selling point with this franchise. Any iteration they attempt, will no doubt be over shadowed by the games that do have it as their USP. There is just no point in doing it, when you could instead focus on the actual USP you have, which for Mass Effect would be the broad but in depth universe with interesting stories and characters. Why sacrifice resources that could be used on that, for something that might not be very good and will never be better than what others are doing? It's illogical.

Though... never say never (ugh... can't believe I said that). I mean, look at Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I don't want to hold down a mouse button to direct the ship around a system.  I would rather the map have a simple interface like in ME1.

This.

Notice that Joker does not use a "stick" to fly the Normandy.

Nor should we in the follow-on.

I have a hollow hope that part of multiplayer would be a separate menu for space battles to go along with the ground troop battles of previous BioWare mp games.

when they first announce ME A, there was a video showing some new footsteps of what they where making, and they show a Solar system there, maybe we just select the planet and the ship fly there now.

I cant find the viedo to link it if i do i will edit this.

find it, check this, if u read it said concept so ofcurse is work in progress, but maybe the new system is more intuitive and it will not show the mini ship flying around.

well that is a nice Cinematic scene, that normal never translate 100% to games mechanics.

If not i will still waiting for those massive battles on DA I cinematic trailer. =P

But yeah if they dont bring back the mini ship flying, i will not be sad, sometimes that feel boring back on ME 1-3

Flying the ship in ME2 and 3 was ridiculous. Aside from going straight through a sun ... oh wait, no. I'm not getting into another discussion of ME's BS "science" again.

Let's just say that the ME1 version would work better.

this is something i find funny when u guys said stuff like that, the galaxy map wasnt made to make the game feel real. It was more like a screen to show where u go.

As long as we get rid of "Fuel" which was pointless limitation.
