Hey guys, so this may seem a bit dumb to ask, but I've restarted the last mission on the Leviathan DLC where Shepard has to go underwater, and here's what's been bugging me - the supposed Garrus LI dialogue.

Now before you ask, I've locked in the romance with him and done the other missions and DLCs (leaving the Citadel one for last), and of course I took Garrus with me on the Leviathan missions.

Thing is, no matter who I take, they are always the ones expressing concern over my Shepard diving in that mech while Garrus just stands off in the distance saying nothing.

Keep in mind that I've done this with every squad mate, with Garrus always on the team, but they always seem to butt in when it should be him doing all the talking.

Did I miss something? Is the romance broken? I'm looking forward to your comments.

Not sure if this will make a difference, but did you choose him first or second when picking squadmates to go with you on the mission? That might make a difference. All I can say is try that. If not, I don't know.

 

For me, the one who reacts to Shepard is the squadmate I've taken on the most missions.

Well I normally choose him first, and even if I take the squadmate that I almost never take on any other mission (aka Ashley) it's still her that walks up to the mech all concerned and then saves my ass. I'll try again and see what happens...

I had Javik all over my Shep instead of a locked in Garrus, so I'm a bit confused myself.

 

I do find the second teammate has more interactions with Shepard most of the time. I always choose Javik second to Garrus. In ME2 I found it was the same way, especially with the final fight and who Shep caught as they fell.

@Kathryn - Yeah I see what you mean, the same happened to me at first. And I've noticed it as well, but for some reason no matter how many times I chose Garrus as the second squadmate, it got fucked up again halfway through.

Funny thing is, I had to go out and run some errands, so when I finally managed to boot up the game it again was on the following evening. I chose Tali first, Garrus second, and it worked!

The real question is why the hell it didn't work in the first place? It was definitely weird, but it's over now, so yeah...

I know this was kind of a weird thing to ask, but thank you all for throwing in your two cents and helping. Much appreciated.

This sort of reminds me of the "who shot Saren" in ME1 based on the most Renegade squadmates. It also seems ME3 keeps track of who we spend the most time with on missions. In the Citadel DLC the squad mate asking to go with you and the one saying they never get picked are based on your actual choices. And if you never or barely select one all the time, they know it. First time I played ME3 I took Javik everywhere and talked to him all the time. Might have overshadowed Garrus by accident lol
