Really can't see the point of a medic class short of removing unity from the other classes and even then imagine the gameplay. Your primary power would be shield-boost... how fun does that sound?

We don't need new classes so much as different sets of subclass templates and the ability to create custom subclasses of existing classes.

In practice this would probably mean having a choice of different passive skills which prioritize different aspects of game play, e.g.

assault rifle damage/weight bonus

Sniper damage/weight bonus

Shotgun damage/weight bonus

stabilization

movement

health/shield bonuses

Combo/power damage bonuses

mêlée bonuses.

From then you could pick from a predifined list of class specific powers which compliment your chosen passive skill.

What is this and where can I see more of it?

It's from Edge of Tomorrow. If you have not seen it already, go see it right now! If you want more motivation, take this:

1d1ed37de2556cf69e1883ac9d5022cdbc4b7325

Emily Blunt really should play the voice of the next protagonist... or Shepard in a Mass Effect film. I believe in my dreams!

Edge of Tomorrow.

Though I hear the film is more about Tom Cruise remaking Groundhog Day than Emily Blunt fighting in power armor. Alas.

You heard wrong!

Legion was a good addition. I usually sell it to Cerberus so they can play with it and I can use it for target practice when they're done. Occasionally, I look up the disloyal traitorous toaster's execution scene on YouTube when Nervestim Pro's broken and I need some fappin' material.

Would've been nice to help Xen dissect it over drinks, but alas, Biower stopped providing roleplay options for synthetic realists.

Eh, I don't know I mean when I served and note this was a while ago now (2000-2007) We weren't issued a standard issue knife, note that you could furnish your own or if you were too cheap to do that you could rec a bayonet from the armory with a valid form but...other then that, you weren't getting anything bladed. Hell the bayonets were mostly worthless in my opinion anyway, I was trained in bladed combat involving a knife and bayonet but...if you get close enough to use that ****, you failed in my field (I was Infantry)

But in 200 years from now they will need to be issued to satisfy rule of cool.

I wouldn't mind some new hybrid classes. They could do a new tech/combat class that revolves around grenades and defense. A new biotic/combat class that is more of a buffer/combat medic.

It sounds like you want a system similar to Kingdoms of Amular

Your class is determined by which of Three attribute you focus on not, Your Class determine's your Attributes... plus you can respec any time.

Warrior =  Purely Might Focus

Rouge = Purely Finesse Focus

Mage =  Purely Sorcery Focus

Then the hybrid Classes where you split between two

Nightblade = Sorcery/Finesse Hybrid

Blademaster = Might/Finesse Hybrid

Battlemage = Might/ Sorcery Hybrid

and the Seventh Class, Universalist

which is a Balance of all three

Honestly, I'd forego new classes in favor of making the the current ones more distinct; at least 3 exclusive powers for each (excluding sentinel, of course), maybe armor restrictions (but not weapons), an effective stealth mechanic for the Infiltrator, Melee for the soldier, enviromental control for the adept (space magic!) and so on.

It's true.  I was going to respond, but the delivery of that was so nice I decided  to leave it alone.  9/10

I'd like to see more diversity within the classes themselves. Mass Effect 3 multiplayer did some interesting things with the N7 classes and the like.

Keep to the original six classes but allow more cutomization of play-style within them. So you can play a high damage, trigger shooter type soldier with lots of mobility or a slow-moving durable soldier with power armor.

An adept that focuses on crowd-control or raw destructive power.

Stuff like that.

PS: Omni-blades are stupid.

Personally i want shadow strike to return, just not the plot hole filled weaboo katana that comes with it, Making them look more plausible or making them into energy based blades that could slice through space magic Armour would be awesome.

I suggest pearl's spear as a template for the concept

What's funny is with each installment, even the same classes feel different.  The game play feels different and it looks different visually as well.  I think a lot of new elements will be seen in the ME.  Should be fun.

I noticed that too, I mean look at infiltrator. It felt like a different class with ME2 because they added the cloak ability. Or Vanguard, with charge.

Well thats Simple

Cause in ME1

The Hybrid classes were just that... Hybrids of the three core classes  You'd get half of the other talent trees smooshed together.

In ME2

Each class was given A Core skill and then Skills that help that skill.

Soldier's are about lots of Weapon damage and variety

Infiltrators are about burst damage

Vanguard's are rush down

Sentinel's are the Tanks

Engineers and Adepts are Casters with different "flavors" of magic -Adepts are pure energy focused while engineers are Elemental/Summon focus

Why would we need more classes if Sentinel is still in the game???

Sentinel should have been removed from the game the only exception is the Asari Valkyrie, which is one of my fav. class.

This is because most sentinel classes got the worst power combinations among the rest of the classes. I don't like "jack in all trades" instead i prefer "pure" classes.

I have no idea what the chances are but I would be inclined to keeping what we have and just improving them with more options on the various trees.  If they add one I'd say give us a fully customizing class that we can build however we see fit...perhaps with the cost of one tree for balancing purposes.
