What, if anything, can be learned from ME3 about how the game gives out new or upgraded kit, and how it finds you matches?
RNG
The best weapons absolutely should be hard to obtain, but the question is, how hard? There are people who have played hundreds of hours and still haven't got a maxed manifest. If it's too hard, it'll eventually encourage cheating or frustration, or both. However, too easy would arguably be worse: you need something to aspire to, and trying to get all X URs is part of that.
Matchmaking
It can be very random, but I think they got it basically right in ME3. Sure there's the occasional blip, like landing in wave 11, or searching for plat and getting bronze, but they're rare in my experience. Being able to see who's in a lobby before you join it might be good, though I've had some very good matches with players I'd never have chosen to play with.
I never played DAMP, so I'm not sure whether they changed things, or if any changes worked. It would be interesting to hear from someone who knows.
