What, if anything, can be learned from ME3 about how the game gives out new or upgraded kit, and how it finds you matches?

RNG

The best weapons absolutely should be hard to obtain, but the question is, how hard? There are people who have played hundreds of hours and still haven't got a maxed manifest. If it's too hard, it'll eventually encourage cheating or frustration, or both. However, too easy would arguably be worse: you need something to aspire to, and trying to get all X URs is part of that.

Matchmaking

It can be very random, but I think they got it basically right in ME3. Sure there's the occasional blip, like landing in wave 11, or searching for plat and getting bronze, but they're rare in my experience. Being able to see who's in a lobby before you join it might be good, though I've had some very good matches with players I'd never have chosen to play with.

I never played DAMP, so I'm not sure whether they changed things, or if any changes worked. It would be interesting to hear from someone who knows.

Ultra rare should remain Ultra rare stuff. Not supporting microtransactions, but in ME3MP it was really fine, pay if you wan't better stuff but don't expect anything better than farming credits for the packs.

On the other hand i expect a brand new way of collecting the rare stuff. MP. sould be linked with the Single Player Campaign, and everything you collected, upgrade parts for the weapons can be directly used in MP. as well.

And we solved 2 problems with 1 shot : no microtransactions and no more Pack's.

About matchmaking, if the game focusing on 4 player co-op the lobby should at least got 8 slots to enter and the players can decide who is going to play in the next match.

ME3's system was fine and felt fair.  It didn't take long to build credits to buy the kits (even at Silver or Bronze), I personally have not spent any real world currency in ME3MP and I have a pretty full armory..... the other day I got two Ultra Rares in a kit.

Also to answer the above, there is no way SP and MP will be linked this time, there was a huge blow back from the fans when the SP content was affected by MP content (which was removed later in an update) so I don't believe they would attempt that again so soon.
