Prehistoric news for you all that were there over a year ago, but I just finished in Nightmare and love this game, as does my girlfriend.  Sure I had an issue or opinion here and there but I try and look at the net balance of what you got for your money, and don't get caught up in niggling.

I can understand how some might not have enjoyed it as I've seen Origins comparisons, but since I never played Dragon Age before, that wasn't a hang up for me.

Just outstanding!

IMO DA I pretty much blows Origins out of the water on almost every level.

Worse than Origins, once you've tried Origins, almost no other games can be a match. But still,DAI is amazing enough than most games in today's world. Overall,it's not a disappointment. The graphics are just beauuuutiful, the story is less than the first 2 but still catching up.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much and got the best bang for your buck OP ^_^

IMO DA I pretty much blows Origins out of the water on almost every level.

IMO DA:I had the best graphics, best CC (minus the hair) and I enjoyed being able to tint armor but overall I found it the weakest of the 3 when it came to story, characters, companions(though the DA:I companions were still good), roleplay ability, armor style variety, and music. I was definitely glad they returned the option to play as a nonhuman though

What DA O did better: Best side quests (maybe in gaming), best side quest-main quest integration, the zones actually felt important and connected rather then disconnected.

What DA 2 did better; Hawk (maybe the best protagonist in RPGs) best cast of Antagonists.

What DA I did better: The overall cast of characters/ companions especially, the story, the music, the combat, maybe the best story of the three (having a tough time between it and DA 2), the war table was a great addition, best overall gameplay, best main base, best graphics, and the Inquisitor, while not being Hawk, was certainly way better then the Warden.

All this being MO of course. ;)

Much better than Origins for me!

I agree/disagree

Agree: It flowed better and had a quicker pace. The allies were great and I liked how I interact with the DAI cast. Combat engine was far better than DAO/DAA. Travelling around was great. A-lot to explore per area

Disagree: Going bad and good meant a-lot. Like for instance in DAO I can kill off ally character like a jerk or team up with the werewolves and kill the dalish elves. DAI It's like how much of a jerk can I be. do I want to punch Solas in the face or not? I really can't go "Bad" like I could in DAO. The only real way i can get "rid of people" is by saying "I don't need you" in DAI. Like Sera, I just tell her "the inquisition doesn't need you". If DAI was like DAO you can be the worst person on earth and kill Sera just because she hated being taken to the fade and got mad over it. Also what quests you do do not seem to tie into other quests when mentioned by NPCs. The only time they are is if you do the warden mission before or after Wicked eyes, wicked hearts. For DAO if I remember right at times like in Denerim people do bring up what you've done thus far. Also no Dog.

Even if you can't kill all your  allies and be the worst person ever, you can still be a tyrannical, unapologetic, selfish, cold inquisitor who has no empathy for their companions and is only in this thing for their own gain.

I love both DAI and DAO; both games have their strengths and weaknesses.  DAO's overall story with impactful choices and tactical combat are standouts in that game.  DAI has fun live action combat with and benefits from the advanced technology that a 2014 game has over a 2009 game.

However, both games have technical issues (DAO was a technical mess on PS3, where I played it), skills that don't work as described.  Both games have overpowered aspects to their game: OP crafting and OP skills such as Combat Roll in DAI, mage specs that trivialized encounters like Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage in DAO.

I look at each game on their own and love them for what they are.  We can always go back and play each when we want to enjoy the strengths of each game. :)

For me, nothing will ever be better than Origins... its like your first love - nothing will ever be as sweet.

Having said that, I loved DA:I except for the hair for women (Really? Really!)

I enjoyed DAI' companions and advisors, but they never felt as close to the PC as most of the companions from the other two games. Excepting the romance partner, the companions felt like employees to me rather than friends. It's the structure of leading an organization, but I prefer the friendship style of interaction with companions. That's also why I like DA companions more than ME companions.

Even if you can't kill all your  allies and be the worst person ever, you can still be a tyrannical, unapologetic, selfish, cold inquisitor who has no empathy for their companions and is only in this thing for their own gain.

I can't really think of any instances where we can be tyrannical in the game?

I just finished it too (2 playthroughs, hehe).  I got it when it first came out because I'm a total gigantic DA fangirl, but once I got to the Hinterlands I was like.... whoa... is all this stuff filler or is it important?  And why the hell is it so hard to get to some places on the maps?

But once someone told me to just do some main missions, close some rifts, etc., in the Hinterlands and then move on, suddenly I started really enjoying it.  REALLY loving it.  The characters were absolutely wonderful and diverse (though my heart still belongs to Alistair).  Solas broke my heart :(

And holy sound design Batman!  It was just incredible!  The mage's crackling lightning, the slam of the staff, just all of it was amazing, combat was fantastic.  And of course the environments were beautiful (if often too hard to navigate and full of a whole lot of filler quests).  Oh, and the crafting, don't even get me started on that awesomeness.  Music was absolutely amazing as well.

I feel this was a worthy successor to DA:O and I cannot wait to see where it goes next!  I MUST REDEEM SOLAS, DAMMIT.  ;)

1) No offence but god damn it , stop it about DaO and Da2 already, same discussion over and over again, my thread got plagued by the same discussion.
I get it, you like DaO more, this is fine. Some like DaI more this is also fine. Just stop rehashing the same discussions by the same people! its driving me nuts!
2) To OP: did you play Trespasser and /or DLCs. Get them asap as they ALL focus on the good things DAI offers. Especially trespasser.
You 'll cry, oh you 'll definately will...

Yeah let's hope Bio learned for DA4 that "Get Out of the Hinterlands" was an important part of playing the game. We should not have to have meta-knowledge to leave the first main area of the game in order to enjoy it.

We had to have meta knowledge to leave the Hinterlands?  It was farily obvious to me.
