I found the gear from the dlc! Thanks for the help all!!
I'm trying to get back into my bow weapon, but I feel it's not doing as much damage as my daggers.. Anyone know a good DPS bow load out?

Stick with DW for Tempest, unless you want to specialize on Flask of Fire/Flaming Array, then I think Archer has the edge.

All else being equal, DW is just going to be higher damage output than Archer. If you've already crafted the best daggers with the best materials, no bow is going to be better.

That said, there are plenty of good bow loadouts. All of the following should have slots prioritized for Dexterity and Crit Damage.

Tier 1: Rugged Longbow

Tier 2: Spiked Longbow or Masterwork Ornate Longbow

Tier 3: Swan Longbow

Tier 4: any of them, but I have a preference for Grunsmann's Bow or Bow of the Beresaad, since they can be upgraded and they can be bought at the BE once and GNed to all other PTs.

What kind of perks would I need for an effective tempest bow load out exactly? What order should I use the perks as well? Sorry for all the questions!

Don't apologize. Better to get answers now than waste hours learning that hard way -- like I did. Just keep in mind that different people have different ideas about what's best.

IMHO, Perks are more about your overall plan for the playthrough and your victory conditions. They don't really impact class or spec optimization much.

Personally, my PT is more about new tactics, crafting and combat than story, so I usually go with this:

1/ Tempered Glass Flasks
2/ More Healing Potions
3/ Deft Hands, Fine Tools
4/ Advanced Focus
5/ Master Focus
6/ True Grit
7/ Exclusive Training

It requires a lot of side questing in the Hinterlands to get enough agents to make Deft Hands available with only 3 Perk points, but it is possible to do.

Then after that I usually do a bunch of Connections to get buffs for selling and buying from merchants, since I like to buy crafting materials from the BE and Descent merchant to save time.

If you are doing a Casual run mostly for story, this is a better starting set:

1/ History Knowledge
2/ Nobility Knowledge
3/ Arcane Knowledge
4/ Underworld Knowledge

The order of #2 and #3 might need to be swapped depending on when you do Abyss vs. WEWH.

Not Cunning?

On Perks, I like to take a couple of the Knowledge perks early for the XP boost. You take the Focus perks earlier than I do; I take it you get to Skyhold relatively quickly?

Thank you for the help! Now what order should I spend my skill points when I level up for my bow? I'm not completely sure what to do with the points I get for leveling up. Just want to do the most damage possible. By the way I really appreciate the help!

When I have a choice, I get Crit Chance/Cunning from armor and accessories, not from weapons. I tend to change weapons frequently, more frequently than armor. I don't want my crit chance to jump all over the place every time I change weapons. Once I get 50% crit chance base in armor and accessories, I can focus all the leather slots on the weapon on crit damage and Dex.

BTW, Dex has a big advantage over Cun, because Dex costs 1 for 1 for crit damage, while Cun is 2 for 1 (0.5% crit for 1 ability point). Not to mention the direct contribution to attack for rogues.

And yes, I tend to get to Skyhold around XP level 7 or 8, although in my current run, because of Even Ground, I was level 9. That said, if you don't respec into better focus abilities ASAP, there is no need to buy the focus perks so soon. So taking other Perks first is absolutely reasonable.

Shall I play the main quest for you too? ;)

Just kidding. How many ability points do you have? The reason I ask is because there is a threshold where it's better to respec and move a bunch of points into Tempest and Sabotage out of Archery, but if you aren't at that threshold yet, it's not worth it.

Also, are you going for a single ability with maximum damage, or maximum damage output using all abilities? If the former, doesn't matter what your build is, just take as many focus buffs as you can and use Thousand Cuts. If the latter, see my previous post:

Wow! You are near the level cap. It almost doesn't matter what your build is, you can hardly go wrong just putting all your points into Tempest, Archery and Sabotage.

Here's a 27 point build, but like I said, just about any variation will do massive damage. This does not use Flask of Fire/Flaming Chain. You can use the link above for that one. This one just picks the choicest abilities from the three trees I mentioned.

Tempest
1/ Flask of Fire
2/ Unquenchable Flame
3/ Fury of the Storm
4/ Thousand Cuts
5/ Killer's Alchemy
7/ Flask of Lightning
8/ Stormrage
9/ Flask of Frost
10/ Flask Master
Archery
11/ Death from Above
12/ Leaping Shot
13/ Rolling Draw (though feel free to toggle to Shot from the Shadows)
14/ Long Shot
15/ Eagle Eye
16/ Strafing Shot
17/ Full Draw
Sabotage
18/ Poison Weapons
19/ Infected Wounds
20/ Fighting Dirty
21/ Caltrops
22/ Looked Like It Hurt
23/ Cheap Shot
24/ Throwing Blades
25/ Precision Targeting
------------
Three options for your last two points.

Option A:
Double Daggers
26/ Ripping Fangs
27/ Dance of Death <-- this passive is useful, even to an Archer
For point 28, the next passive, Sneak Attack, is even better, but you have to get close enough to  flank attack

Option B:
Sabotage
26/ Hook & Tackle
27/ It Beats Walking
You'd have to drop another active, like Full Draw, to use Hook & Tackle, but this could be kind of fun with Flask of Lightning active. You could do quite a few H&T's during a FoL duration. Those free 150% hits, plus crit, plus Poison Weapons, plus an on-hit proc like Hidden Blades, can add up.

Option C:
26/ Focused Teamwork (Inquisitor: helps recharge Thousand Cuts)
27/ Ride the Storm (Tempest: You have to pay attention to flask durations to make the most of this.)

---------------------------------------

Active abilities
1. Flask of Fire
2. Flask of Lightning (swap with Flask of Frost if extra defense needed)
3. Thousand Cuts
4. Leaping Shot
5. Long Shot
6. Full Draw
7. Poison Weapons
8. Throwing Blades

Standard attack routine:

Start with Flask of Fire.

Then Poison Weapons.

Then, if at long range, Full Draw or Long Shot. Otherwise, Throwing Blades.

Then Leaping Shot. If at long range again, squeeze in one more Long Shot before FoF runs out, otherwise another Leaping Shot.

After FoF runs out (and right after if Option C Ride The Storm is used), switch to Flask of Lightning to either move into flanking position, or do some auto attacks, or whatever abilities are up, like Throwing Blades, but not Poison Weapons since FoL burns the duration faster.

When FoF is back up, repeat.

Mega damage routine, best for a boss like a sleeping dragon:

Toggle Rolling Draw to Shot from the Shadows, and do a free Leaping Shot to go into Stealth. Sneak up behind the target, into point blank flanking position.

Take a Mighty Offense Tonic and a Healing Potion or any other tonic or potion, like Regen. This is to stack up Killer's Alchemy to the max. (Some people like to do Flask of Lightning first, then the tonics/potions, but then you have to wait for the duration to expire so you can do Flask of Fire).

Then quickly do Flask of Fire, Poison Weapons then Thousand Cuts, for massive damage. Even more damage if you have on-hit procs like Hidden Blades x4 on armor and Hidden Blades x5 on your bow.

Quickly follow up with Leaping Shot for a big target like a dragon, or Throwing Blades, or Long Shot, before FoF expires.

Perhaps this might have some tips; some of his other vids have been useful for me:
