In Trespasser, does the inventory of companions (armor, weapons, accessories, etc) carry over automatically? Do they keep their stuff? Does their stuff get transferred to your inventory? Or does it vanish and I have to strip them of everything prior to starting Trespasser? (Like back in Awakening) I haven't yet found a definite answer to this.

Yes.
If Cass or Viv are made Divine, then their armors are placed in your inventory and they wear a special armor and helmet as Divine.
Storage Chest also carries over.
It isn't even an import, really. It's just a continuation of the main game.

No, Solas steals your stuff when he leaves. But this is after the final battle, not when transitioning to Trespasser.
The Storage Chest is in the NW corner of the palace, near where Cassandra stands, but on the other side of the wall.
If you have equipped Solas with shiny stuff and are NOT going to take him to the final fight with Corypheus, you may as well strip him of everything. I keep his starting gear for just this reason. He leaves me as I met him: a hobo apostate.
Also keep in mind any companions that won't show up in Trespasser. For example, if you don't do Cole's personal quest, he won't be there. Same with Blackwall, or (I assume) if you leave him in prison during Revelations. For Solas, I de-equip him of everything except Token of the Packmaster before heading off to beat Cory (even if he's in my party 
).
