I don't want to be the Captain of the Loveboat again. All ship personel under my charge better be within regulations, no exceptions, favorites, or questions. Instead of talking about emotional crybaby bs, can the game be like the actual military where members brag about PT scores, rifle/pistol range scores, and tactics?

I have no doubt in my mind that BioWare's attempt to do something like this would just end up being dry and boring. I don't think that they're ever going to really go the extra mile to capture that Authentic Military Feel, and I don't really think they should even try.

Since we are apparently going to be another protagonist with a military background, I would love if we were able to be more military. Maybe not have it mandatory, but have it as one of the ways to play.

Even soldiers talk about stuff like that, so they shouldn't get rid of the characters expressing themselves.

I'm tired of these military stories. It would be cool if we're just a bunch of civilians or mercenaries exploring the new world instead, but since we're gonna be in the military anyway, I guess I just have to deal with that.

Mass Effect isn't really a game about trying to go for a military feel, even in the two games where you are a part of the Alliance.

Plus I'd rather not have the majority of conversations be bragging about range scores.

This pretty funny since most people here feel its already pro military

Gotta say though I wouldn't mind this but I doubt it'll ever go that deep, it better to expect the usual sci fi space marine jargon then sound like actual Navy men and women

How would you know? Are you military? We make fun of people who talk about emotional things.

I think it's better to come to terms with the idea that Mass Effect was always just a space opera that used its military trappings to justify our PC's place in the world, not to really take the whole military part all that seriously. It's much easier for our galaxy-saving hero to have a background that justifies being so competent in combat. The rest is the basic ragtag ensemble so that the companions can be a bunch of colorful characters, regs be damned.

I agree wholeheartely OP. ME:A shouldn't waste any time with civilian parasites. You see how those quarian Civilian Fleet cowards tried to run from the glorious fight for their homeworld? Pathetic race traitors. What about those Horizon "Refugees"? I laughed when I learned they got turned into Cerberus soldiers anyway. TIM's a genius.

ME:A should be all about conquering and giving the natives two choices: be conscripted and serve us in our glorious Andromedan army, or be killed.

So turn it into another generic shooter? I mean solving everyone's daddy issues is kinda Bioware's thing... At least Shepard's personality was pretty millitary-disciplined, even more so if you go with renegade choices and neutral on the ones that make you look like a jerk.

I wouldn't mind if the crew saluted you once in a while, maybe you remind them some things are unaccetable. Little touches, not big sweeping changes. I don't like the idea of the boss being stickler for regs and everyone having a rank, for various reasons.

I like a ship laid back enough to have a bar but not so laid back they're law unto themselves or acting like its college.

No. The military sucks. It was bad enough we were the Alliance's lapdog for at least 2/3 games.

Hmm, yes, I find it rather shallow and pedantic.

How exactly are we the Alliance's lapdog in a game where we can ignore all of their orders?

We were the Council's lapdog in ME1, not the Alliance's.

Oh ye? How many times did Hackett interrupt your galaxy scanning in ME1? And then you had to turn yourself in to the Alliance at the conclusion of ME2.
