and how many of those orders of Hackett did you have to obey?
One too many - in ME2 alone. In ME3................*drumroll*

I don't want to be the Captain of the Loveboat again. All ship personel under my charge better be within regulations, no exceptions, favorites, or questions. Instead of talking about emotional crybaby bs, can the game be like the actual military where members brag about PT scores, rifle/pistol range scores, and tactics?
Strictly speaking commander Shepard is a Spectre, and though Shepard is apart of the alliance military, the Commander can run the ship as strictly or loosely as they like since they are a member of an organization whose authority comes from the council. Since the Normandy has Aliens onboard who are not associated with the Alliance Military the commander makes allowances for them as long as they pull their weight which they do.
It helps that, despite complaints about daddy issues, Shepard doesn't deal with fresh meat, slackers or people who are looking to get out of the military. The crew WANT to be there and in general do not require someone to constantly enforce regs or babysit them.
I am getting sick of the military. Give me a ragtag crew made up of pirates, misfits, and mercenaries.
So...Mass Effect 2?
Dragon Age 2?

I'd like a Krogan Merc
A renegade C-Sec officer
A random, street smart, yet tech savvy
Quarian.
An Asari archeologist struggling to find her place in the madness.
And I want the protagonist to be explicitly above the law with a license to kill.
Play XCOM then...
I actually like being able to bond with squadmates and actually showing some damn humanity, Shepard was successful because he/she thought outside of the box,
Making the game more "military" means you are left with no choices or individuality. The citadel was a huge showcase of friendship and loyalty beyond any conditioning or brainwashing.
I hate violence and war yet i still love the games because they are able to balance it out with relatable relationships and characters, even if they look like a prawn, and removing the only humanity left in the mass effect series is whats going to turn into another call of duty clone.

Which decisions are you referring to that are outside the box?

Erm..........oh boy, awkward.......um, ok...........bonking the crew?

I'm talking about in Mass Effect 1 where everything he asks you to do is optional.
In Mass Effect 2, doing one DLC mission for him doesn't make you an Alliance lapdog.
Mass Effect 3 is the only game where you have to listen to his orders a decent amount.

I was with Cerberus. I didn't do Arrival.
Less military structure please, more informal.
I'm for a good balance between military and civilian.
I wouldn't mind adding mercenaries too ~
A less militarized group of characters is always the better way to go.
I like this idea OP. I'd also would like a human only crew.
No way.
IMO humans are just boring, what make the game original and interesting is all the aliens around ....
It's not patchouli. I farted.

I can never tell if these sorts of suggestions are serious, because it's almost as if people want a Mass Effect game, but don't really want a Mass Effect game. Like we had someone asking for no biotics, and now no alien allies. The frak is this madness?
Wow,what's your job in real life...I mean,please BioWare,don't make ME:A into a military camp...if I want military camp I'd sign up for one in real life,which I don't.

Really?
All 3 fail to provide cover fire.
One of them tells his boss to stall the council without having any evidence
Another stands around like a dumba** watching a robot upload a code that leads to her species being wiped out without making any effort to stop it
The other one thinks its ok to take armor from a dead body and display it like its some kind of trophy.
I wouldn't want them

If they were human, they'd do the same thing.

Since they never did, I'm not worried about it.
