What is the best time to do this? I am now at Level 48 on my first play through. I am at the point where I still need to do Virmire, the Citadel lock down and Ilos. Should I continue to delay this and get up to Ilos. I don't want to get locked into the end game without having done it.

Any time you like, you get a sweet omni-tool or armour at the end so don't leave it too late. I'd go before Virmire.

What are your plans? Do you plan to do an NG+? If so, save it until just before Ilos. At level 48 you will probably get Colossus VIII armor. If you put it off until level ~53-55 you will get Colossus X.

This is my first play through and I believe my experience ceiling is 50. I don't think I can get to 53-55.

As late as possible is always my advice, as the reward you get scales with your level. It's the only place you are guaranteed to get some decent quarian armour.

I did it right before I went to Ilos. I was at level 50 and I took the omni tool. I finished the game with Ashley and Liara in the team. I have now started ME2. I will do a replay later.
I want to thank everyone again for their help and advice.

A tip that should be mentioned is that keep decent Omni-Tools in your inventory before you beat Saren.
There is a glitch that deletes Omni-Tools if they are equipped, so when you do a new game plus you wont have them.

These convos are really making me jones for another ME1 play-through. I might have to take a day off of work for a long weekend.

Oh voteDC now that I am in ME2 I see what you meant about the Combat. I also don't like the thermal clips and the potential to run out of ammunition. This is really a step backwards. I would much rather run the risk of overheating. They can call the new arrangement an "improvement" all they want, but it's not.

Well I am playing on easy. The final fight with Saran at that level was easy. I immediately hit him with lift and kept him in the air. The minute he came down I hit him again all the while shooting him. It was actually over in seconds.

Yeah that's good, some times it's the first fight that turns the table to your advantage. Oh and another thing when he offers you the Omni Tool you can either except it as is or go for the Armor you don't gave to settle for the Quarian armor unless all of your armor is at it's peak. if you have any other Questions just ask me or send me an Email at dannygoss57@gmail.com

I was tempted to shelve my PS3, but I can't. Thanks to this thread I might start another trilogy playthrough. I don't think I'll ever stop.

I haven't. I might slow down a little bit after Andromeda is released, but I doubt I will ever stop playing the trilogy

I hate the place with landmines.
Another reason why batarians need to be exterminated.

Actually the mining teams set the explosives for 'excavations'. Why they decided to excavate around one of their own fusion torches and use close proximity detectors to set them off, I will never know.I hate the place with landmines.

I just assumed that the Batarians planted the mines.
