Errrgh.  I dunno how I feel about this.  While it would be super cool to get some truthiness RE: the gods, the Maker, the blight, dragons/archdemons, the Fade and the Veil, the Old Gods, Titans, etc., I feel like we have such a gigantic cliffhanger after Trespasser.  I'll have an itch I can't scratch for another number of years if they go back in time for the next game!  Rawr!

What also makes me wonder is that in World of Thedas 2 Dorian writes to his father about their efforts to achieve this before Alexius left Tevinter.   He says "What he wants to do is technically possible, but the power it would require is unachievable."    Note he doesn't just say "theoretically possible" but "technically" if you have sufficient power.    Cracking open the orb was the amount of power needed, so technically, if Solas could find an alternative source of power, time travel would be possible again.   Or anybody else for that matter.    I really hope that Dorian suffers amnesia over this or decides to burn all their research papers; anything but leave the possibility that time travel either forwards or backwards could be resurrected in a future game.

I really hope not. I really enjoyed In Hushed Whispers - but I enjoyed it despite the time travel element. Having Solas' plan revolve around time travel would just feel cheap to me.

No. Solas said raising the Veil over the Crossroads was the best of bad options. He won't undo the initial choice. He will instead lower the Veil and then institute whatever plan he claims he had for the freed evanuris. Probably some sort of lyrium trap. They would wake up weak, then seek out lyrium stockpiles to regain their power. That's where Solas would trap them in more conventional ways.
